Discover Präbichl: Hiking and Mountain Adventures
Accommodation in Präbichl
In Präbichl, marked hiking trails and the Erz hiking trail sit alongside a range of leisure activities at the Funslope, Adventure Park and Grüblsee. If you’re looking for a hotel for your stay, you can start by deciding what you want to focus on: hiking, individual adventure activities or both. Bus route 820 is also relevant for getting there; it runs between Leoben station and the Präbichl Passhöhe.
Hiking and the history of mining
Numerous marked hiking trails of varying difficulty lead from the top station of the Einser chairlift into the mountains around Präbichl. The Erz hiking trail, which is connected to the former Dulnig ore transport system, runs from Präbichl to Vordernberg-Markt. The routes therefore differ both in difficulty and length: the hiking trails around Präbichl contrast with the Erz hiking trail and its historical connection.
The Einser chairlift travels at a speed of 2 m/s and covers the first 600 metres of elevation, reaching an altitude of almost 1,800 m. It offers views of the surrounding mountains, including Erzberg. Operating times and conditions vary by season; check them before planning your visit.
Leisure activities with different focuses
The Funslope at Präbichl features several different rollers, small jumps and a giant snow snail with a tunnel. The Alpfox Adventure Park offers five different routes and stations for all ability levels. This gives you a choice between a Funslope with specific features and a park with multiple routes and stations.
Flying-Foxi uses six ziplines with a combined length of several hundred metres, running up to 14 m above the crystal-clear waters of Grüblsee. ALPFOX mountain carts let you ride on three wheels using gravity power. The activities differ in how you get around: ziplines above the lake versus three-wheeled mountain carts.
The Adventure Park, Flying-Foxi and mountain cart offerings may vary by season. Before your trip, check which of these activities are available on your dates.
Grüblsee and regional cuisine
Grüblsee is described as Europe’s highest-altitude diving base; diving is currently unavailable. There is a small restaurant right by the lake, with a freshly prepared selection of dishes that changes daily.
As part of the Skiarena Präbichl’s summer offerings, the “Silverfox” food trailer serves regional specialities from Upper Styria. Head chef Julia prepares many dishes fresh and from scratch—from the sauces to the patties. The selection at the lakeside restaurant changes daily, while the Silverfox focuses on regional specialities and home cooking. Both dining options are seasonal; check what is available on your dates before travelling.
Plan your journey
Bus route 820 runs between Leoben station and the Präbichl Passhöhe; the journey takes about 40 minutes. Check the timetable before travelling. Together with the chairlift’s seasonal operating times and the changing leisure activities, this makes it possible to tailor your day plan to your travel dates.
