In Prebl, several hiking trails lead to different points of interest. The Prebl circular hike passes the Trippolthof and continues to the Sauerbrunn spring in Preblau. The Preblau Paracelsus Trail Q6 leads from the Paracelsus House in Bad St. Leonhard via the Weihbrunnweg and the Hofbauersiedlung to the Paracelsus Spring. When choosing a route for your plans, it is therefore worth comparing the destinations and waypoints described.

Hiking Trails and Their Stops

The Q6 passes through beautiful, unspoiled areas and is equipped with trail markers and information boards. Both this trail and the Benedict Trail pass the Lorika Chapel. Check the signs on site before setting out, as the markers may change. This way, you can take the listed stops and the route of each trail into account when planning.

The Benedict Trail comes from Styria and continues to Slovenia. Its connection to the Lorika Chapel is therefore different from the stops listed along the Q6, from Bad St. Leonhard to the Paracelsus Spring. The Prebl circular hike, in turn, passes the Trippolthof and continues to the Sauerbrunn spring. These specific route descriptions help you consider the spring or the chapel as a landmark for your hiking plans, without treating the trails as one and the same.

Parking is available in the center of Prebl. The circular hike is connected to public transport by Postbus. Check the latest information on parking and Postbus services before your trip. No details about timetables, stops or service frequency are provided here.

The Spring and Its History in Preblau

The Preblauer Sauerbrunn was first mentioned in a document in 1575. One of the two springs is still called the “Paracelsus Spring” today. The water of the Sauerbrunn naturally contains carbon dioxide. At the spring, a specific characteristic of the water and a long-standing tradition surrounding its name come together.

Paracelsus is also connected with the history of the spring: he is said to have studied it in the first half of the 16th century. This is phrased as a traditional attribution. It should be distinguished chronologically from the documented mention in 1575. Preblauer healing and mineral water is still bottled at the Paracelsus Spring and shipped worldwide. If you would like to see the bottling on site, check in advance whether a visit is possible.

The name of the spring also appears in the name of the Q6, whose described route leads to the Paracelsus Spring. This connects the hiking trail with a historic site, without making the two topics one and the same: the route describes a sequence of stops, while the spring’s history concerns its early mention, its name and the tradition associated with Paracelsus.

Lorika Chapel and War Memorial

The Lorika Chapel is more than just a stop on the Q6 and the Benedict Trail. Inside are a statue of the Madonna and Child and a total of eight framed images of saints. An inscription on the gable refers to the year 1882. You can therefore consider the chapel both in connection with the hiking trails and in terms of its described features and inscription.

The Prebl War Memorial was erected in 1962. It commemorates those killed in the two World Wars from Gräbern, Prebl and Wölling-Auen. The memorial is located south of the cemetery wall. These details provide a specific local point of reference for your visit; they also distinguish the memorial as a place of remembrance from the hiking stops and the history of the spring.

Prebl therefore offers several different themes to consider when planning your trip: a circular hike to the Sauerbrunn spring, the Q6 with its spring and chapel, and the Benedict Trail, which continues beyond the area. You can also explore the history of the spring and local memorial sites.
