Klippitztörl is a destination offering a range of activities depending on the season. In summer, options include hiking, the summer toboggan run and the adventure climbing park; in winter, the ski area and snowshoe rental are specific attractions. If you’re looking for a hotel, distinguishing between the seasons can help with your initial planning: consider which activities will shape your stay and whether you’re interested in summer or winter offerings. The leisure activities provide a range of options to consider.

Summer Toboggan Run and Climbing Park

A chairlift takes visitors to the summit of Hohenwart at an elevation of 1,818 m; the summer toboggan run then descends from there. It is 1,400 metres long and covers an elevation difference of 260 metres. These figures describe the route in concrete terms and help you assess the toboggan run as a standalone activity.

The adventure climbing park was built on natural terrain near the summer toboggan run. It is designed for holidaying families, day visitors, schools, groups and seminars. This makes the climbing park another activity to include in your plans alongside the toboggan run. The Kiddy Park features tree-based elements, suspension bridges and flying foxes. A minimum height of 120 cm applies; children may use it only when accompanied by an adult. Keep both conditions in mind when planning a visit to the Kiddy Park.

Hiking and Experiencing Nature

Klippitztörl has an extensive, well-signposted network of hiking trails. There are also numerous leisurely hikes in and around the Klippitztörl hiking paradise. The routes have been recorded using GPS and described in detail; they can be printed out along with a tour map. This lets you review the route information before your hike and print a map.

You can also combine hiking with wildlife watching: on the Forstalpe, you can see chamois; at Geierkogel, marmots; and there are also numerous birds to observe. These places and animals give you specific options to consider if you’re particularly interested in nature around Klippitztörl.

Skiing and Snowshoeing in Winter

For the 2025/2026 winter season, the official winter brochure lists six modern lifts and 13 runs of all difficulty levels. These figures may vary if the lift or piste network changes. The winter-season information is therefore a snapshot of the ski area for a specific period, not a timeless count.

Snowshoes can be rented from Klippitztörl Touristik at the main ticket office by the Hocheggerlift for €12.00 per day. As this is seasonal rental information, check the details before your winter trip. The ÖBB Erlebnisticket combines train travel and a lift ride with tobogganing and/or the climbing park at a reduced combination price. Check the latest ticket details before travelling, as the offer may change.

Choose Your Hotel Based on the Season

Summer and winter call for different travel plans: in summer, you can weigh up hiking, the summer toboggan run and the climbing park as key activities; in winter, the ski area and snowshoe rental take centre stage. First decide which of these activities matter for your stay and when you want to travel. With this focus in mind, you can then compare hotels in Klippitztörl more effectively and check the specific details of each option against your own requirements.
