The routes and sights offer different ways to plan your day. You can organize your activities according to your interests and then look for a hotel in Sankt Urban.

Hiking: Route Lengths and Navigation

St. Urban offers almost 100 kilometers of marked hiking trails. There are also six marked hiking routes ranging from 8 to 28 kilometers in length. The Panorama Trail is 14 kilometers long; it is listed as taking four hours. The route therefore falls within the range of the six hiking routes and combines a specific distance with a time estimate you can take into account when planning.

The MĂĽhlenweg also has a named point of interest: it passes the BartlmĂĽhle, which serves as a demonstration mill. The route and the mill are connected here in a specific way. A municipal publication from July 2025 highlights the varied Hoch-St.-Paul-Weg (E) as a special highlight.

Winter Sports and Swimming

Simonhöhe in St. Urban is a family ski area with easy to intermediate slopes. Simonhöhe also has a children's ski school and cross-country ski trails. This means you will find a range of winter sports here: downhill skiing, activities for children and cross-country skiing. You can consider separately which of these you want to shape your stay when planning your trip.

In summer, swimming is possible at Urbansee in St. Urban. Together with the hiking trails, this offers another seasonal focus. When planning, it helps to distinguish the swimming option explicitly mentioned for summer from the winter sports at Simonhöhe.

Culture and History

Sankt Urban brings together a range of historical themes: ecclesiastical tradition, a museum, Roman finds and the architectural history of Schloss Bach. St. Urban Church is documented in written records dating back to 1164. The Krapfenbeck-Simele Museum is housed in the tastefully renovated Messnerhaus.

The Mithras Rock above Urbansee is associated with Roman finds. An image of the sun god with a halo of rays is carved into the rock. Schloss Bach lies north of Urbansee and was built in three construction periods; it is privately owned.

The branch churches also offer specific points of historical interest. Kleingradenegg Branch Church was first mentioned in writing in 1462. Its cemetery wall contains a so-called Lichterstein, also known as a marriage stone. According to tradition, anyone who can place all ten fingers in its ten holes at the same time is allowed to marry.

Hoch St. Paul Branch Church stands at an elevation of 1,176 meters on the northeastern foothills of Paulberg in the municipality of St. Urban. It was first documented in 1285 and is a listed monument. Its high altar dates from the last quarter of the 17th century. The branch church links its first mention in the Middle Ages with a high altar from the late 17th century.
