Icheon brings together several distinct visitor experiences: ceramic production and pottery activities, a museum dedicated to the artist Woljeon, seasonal landscapes and winter sports. When choosing a hotel, it helps to first decide whether you want to focus on workshops, art or outdoor activities.

Ceramics: Production, Workshops and Hands-On Activities

Icheon Ceramics Village is home to about 80 ceramic factories and around 300 kilns in use. Visitors can observe the production process there. Also located in the ceramics village is the Haegang Ceramics Art Center, where visitors can learn about ceramics. The village thus offers both a focus on ceramic production and a dedicated place to explore the subject.

Icheon Ye's Park brings together various ceramic workshops in one village. You can visit the workshops and buy ceramic goods there. Some offer pottery classes where visitors can make their own pieces; participation may vary by workshop. A ceramic discount event is held regularly in spring and autumn. The exact dates and participating workshops may vary, so check the schedule for your planned visit.

At Gilsangyo, visitors choose a design and make pottery with expert guidance. After the 30-minute experience, they paint and fire their ceramics. Details of the experience may vary by provider.

Ceramics also feature at Seolbong Park: the park hosts the Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale; event details may vary by edition. At the park, Cerapia offers hands-on ceramic programs. Check their availability before your visit.

Art and Remembrance

The Woljeon Museum of Art Icheon was relocated to Icheon in August 2007 at Woljeon's request. It honors the Korean artist Woljeon Chang Woo Soung and his works. The museum has also been expanded to include personal mementos. While a visit to Ceramics Village focuses on the production process, the artist and his work take center stage here.

Walking Trails, Seasons and Winter Sports

A loop trail along Seolbong Lake is used for walking. Seolbongsan has a well-maintained hiking trail; conditions may change with the seasons. The two options therefore differ mainly in the activity: a lakeside walking trail or a mountain hiking trail. Seolbongsan also has up to eight natural springs with clear water; water conditions may vary.

In Icheon Sansuyu Village in Baeksa-myeon, the sansuyu trees turn yellow in spring and bear bright red berries in autumn. Blooming and fruiting times vary from year to year. If you plan to travel for this landscape, take the season into account when planning your trip.

Jisan Forest Ski Resort has ski slopes for skiers of different ability levels. Check the resort details before your trip.
