Discover Anyang: Art, Nature and Culture
Accommodation in Anyang
Explore Anyang from different perspectives: public art, guided tours, ecological attractions and a lively cultural scene each offer a different focus. When planning your trip, consider which of these aspects interests you most.
Art and guided tours
Fifty works of art by renowned Korean and international artists are displayed at various locations in Anyang Art Park. The park also features artificial waterfalls, an outdoor stage, a plaza, walking paths and improved lighting. Here, works of art sit alongside other public park features.
If you are interested in art in the context of the city, you can also consider the APAP Works Tour. This guided walking program takes you through the forests and streams of Anyang Art Park, as well as the urban, everyday park and living spaces of Pyeongchon. It includes public artworks from the first through seventh APAP editions. The project began in 2005. Dates for the tour are scheduled for 2026; check them before your trip.
Another way to explore local attractions is the “Monthly Anyang Tour.” This guided walking program visits key attractions in Anyang, with expert commentary from the city’s culture and tourism interpreters. Check the latest program dates before your trip. This tour differs from the APAP Works Tour in that it focuses on the city’s key attractions rather than the specified artworks and park and living spaces.
Anyang Museum also offers a specific reason to visit: three guided tours of the permanent exhibition, with explanations, are held daily. If you would like to explore the exhibition with commentary, include a tour in your plans. Schedules and reservation requirements may change, so check both before you arrive.
Culture in city life
Pyeongchon 1st Street Culture Street is near Beomgye Station. It regularly has a youthful, lively atmosphere and busking performances, as well as numerous restaurants, cafés and bars. This makes the street a cultural destination in its own right: alongside guided tours and art in the park, Anyang also offers a setting with dining and performances. The performances take place regularly, but are not a one-off event tied to a specific date.
Forests and ecological themes
Gwanaksan Forest Recreation Area has a 5.6-kilometer forest trail. It runs from the entrance behind Anyang Sports Complex to Ganchon Village in Gwanyang-dong.
At Anyangcheon, you can explore the river landscape and its wildlife: this ecologically diverse river is home to numerous aquatic plants and animals, and migratory birds also visit. Anyangcheon Ecology Story Center offers a different focus, with indoor and outdoor programs for hands-on experiences and learning about ecology. The river and the learning programs therefore offer two distinct ways to explore ecological themes: one through the river’s described features, the other through practical activities at the center.
When choosing a hotel, you can first decide whether you would like to focus your trip on art and guided tours, the cultural scene around Beomgye, or nature and ecological themes. The attractions described vary in format and focus. For programs with fixed dates, check the latest schedule; for a museum visit, check the schedule and reservation requirements before finalizing your trip.
