Mudanjiang offers a range of urban experiences for visitors: a streetscape with Russian influences, Korean-inspired design, memorial sites and culinary themes. If you’re looking for a hotel in Mudanjiang, these experiences can help shape your trip. Choose your accommodation based on your travel plans and the details of each offer; the places below provide an urban and regional context.

Cityscapes and Streets

Dongyi Sino-Russian Style Street is located in Mudanjiang’s central business district. It is 946 meters long and has more than 1,400 shops. Chinese-Russian bilingual signs and kiosks with gold-colored roofs in a Russian style shape the streetscape. Leisure, shopping, dining and sightseeing come together here. The street provides a distinct urban focus, with its design as defining as its commercial function.

Chaoxian Folk Culture Street offers a different design accent. Its 125-meter-long folk alley features Korean-inspired signs, façades and shop windows, colorful walkways and four photo walls. Here, the design of the streetscape itself is a theme. Visible details may change with later renovations.

Culinary Highlights and Public Spaces

Zhonghua Regional Specialties Street is on the second floor of Dongyi Department Store. It brings together specialties and snacks from different parts of China and is also considered a popular destination for tourist photo stops. The streets also offer distinct culinary highlights: Russian cuisine is recommended on Dongyi Sino-Russian Style Street, and Korean cuisine on Chaoxian Folk Culture Street. This gives you a choice between Chinese specialties from different regions and recommendations for Russian or Korean cuisine.

Chaoxian National Culture Square adds cultural and recreational themes to the mix. It has a leisure area, a stage area and a gateball area. It covers just under 5,000 square meters and has a stated capacity of 1,500 people. Culture, performances, dining, fitness and entertainment are brought together there. Facilities and programming may change, so check what is currently on before planning a specific visit.

Memorial Site and Visitor Services

Jiangbin Park is home to a sculpture group commemorating the eight women who threw themselves into the river. It is a national memorial site for martyrs. The site offers a different focus from the city’s street and dining themes: remembrance is at its heart.

Additional Themes in the Wider Travel Region

San Dao Guan National Forest Park is in Aimin District, northwest of Mudanjiang’s urban area. It covers 8,000 hectares and lies at an elevation of 300 to 742 meters. Its size and elevation describe a regional landscape that differs markedly from the urban streetscape. A tourism article dated July 13, 2026, describes playing in the stream, following stairways to Yixiantian and Zhuangyuan Ding, and camping and barbecuing by the stream. The activities described range from spending time by the water to hiking and enjoying the outdoors.

The Mudanjiang Border Wall is another point of interest in the wider area. A description dated May 25, 2020, stated that 13 sections in San Dao Guan National Forest Park were open to tourists. The section in the San Dao Guan area is described as 38.629 kilometers long and passing through several villages in Aimin District. Check current access conditions before visiting. The number of sections and the described route of the wall represent different scales: individual sections open to tourists and a longer stretch passing through several villages.

Dong'an 1946 Cultural and Creative Park was created by transforming the former site of the Mudanjiang Woodworking Machinery Factory. Founded in 1946, the factory was then considered Asia’s second-largest woodworking machinery site. The park brings together cultural and creative industries, exhibitions, sports and fitness, as well as dining and bars; these uses may continue to evolve. Here, an industrial past meets a broad cultural and recreational profile.
