Fairfield combines nature and recreational activities with art and events. Options range from trails for hiking or mountain biking to lake activities, wakeboarding and culture. When planning your visit, it helps to distinguish between the different locations and what each one offers: Harbin Park focuses on trails and sports facilities, while Thomas O. Marsh Park Fishing Lake brings together a shoreline, walking trail and boating rules.

Trails and sports at Harbin Park

Harbin Park has about 7 miles of unpaved hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as a separate, 1.5-mile paved loop trail. The two trail options differ in surface and length. All trails can be used in either direction. Cyclists must yield to hikers on the trails.

There are specific facilities for other sports, too: the park has eight pickleball courts with seating and a canopy. The canopy does not cover the courts. There is also an 18-hole course designed in collaboration with the Greater Cincinnati Flying Disc Association. Park facilities may change over time; if a particular facility is essential to your plans, check its current status in advance.

Walking trail and boating rules at the lake

Thomas O. Marsh Park Fishing Lake is a natural spring-fed lake with more than 4,000 feet of accessible shoreline. The lake also has a 0.75-mile paved walking trail and fitness equipment. There are different ways to get active outdoors here: take a walk on the paved trail or use the equipment.

Hand-powered boats such as kayaks, canoes, rowing shells, rowboats and jon boats are allowed on the lake, provided they display a valid registration sticker or an alternative registration decal. Electric trolling motors are also allowed. Since boating rules may change seasonally, check the current regulations before heading out.

Wakeboarding in Fairfield

Wake Nation adds a dedicated wakeboarding option. It has more than two dozen wakeboarding features and both types of cable systems. The wakeboarding features and different systems are the specific highlights of this offering; details about the individual types of systems are not available here.

Art, events and public spaces

Fairfield Community Arts Center, in the heart of Fairfield, offers cultural events and recreational activities. Its art gallery presents up to six exhibitions each year featuring local and regional artists, and admission is free. The exhibition program may vary. Those interested in regional art will find a dedicated place to visit here, alongside the recreational offerings in the parks.

Fountains, sculptures and an amphitheater are among the defining features of Village Green Park. It also hosts a popular summer concert series. If you’d like to include a concert in your travel plans, check the dates for your intended travel period. This makes it easier to combine this seasonal event with the other interests on your trip.
