While Jasper-Pulaski groups wetland, upland, and woodland habitats into three categories, Winamac features a more varied mix of forest, fields, and wetlands.

Winamac Fish & Wildlife Area offers rifle, trap, and archery ranges, as well as two fishing ponds within walking distance. Popular activities there include shooting, archery, hunting, fishing, trapping, and wildlife watching.
