Féchy is shaped by its winegrowing heritage. Since 1971, its winegrowing region has been listed in the Swiss Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance. You can plan your stay around different themes: the Balade des Capites is a circular route through the designated winegrowing region, while cellars and tastings offer a hands-on insight into winegrowing. The history of its buildings and cultural heritage also offers its own points of interest.

Winegrowing and tastings

You can visit the Cave de la Crausaz year-round, in a listed building dating from 1620. Its underground cellars lie six metres beneath the vines. During a visit, you can see 23 Borsari tanks and 11 enamelled steel tanks. Chasselas accounts for 90 percent of current production; Chardonnay, Gamay and Pinot make up the rest.

Domaine La Colombe also offers tastings in its cellar. The estate covers 20 hectares and grows around ten grape varieties. Kursner Vins SA also welcomes visitors for wine tastings. In total, around twenty winemakers in Féchy welcome wine enthusiasts throughout the year. The Fête du Raisin takes place every September and offers tastings of wines from the Féchy production area. If you would like to plan your trip around the festival, check the specific event dates.

Another highlight is the Vigne du Monde, established by the municipality and winemakers in 1996. It comprises 58 grape varieties, whose grapes are vinified separately to create a special blend. A guest country is part of the concept each year, with typical grape varieties from that country planted on micro-terraces. The Vigne du Monde is located at the foot of an 11th-century church and offers views of Lake Geneva and the Alps. The approaches are distinct: Chasselas shapes the current production at the Cave de la Crausaz, while the Vigne du Monde pursues an international concept featuring numerous grape varieties.

Explore the Balade des Capites on foot

The Balade des Capites is a 4.5-kilometre circular route. The walk takes about two hours and has around 89 metres of elevation gain. It passes through the designated winegrowing region of Féchy in the La Côte AOC region and offers views of Lake Geneva. Two refrigerated self-service stations along the way let you taste local wines.

The route links the winegrowing landscape with information about the work of winemakers: along the way, you will find playful information panels and two interactive learning games. Children aged four and over can also take part in a treasure hunt. To reach the route, take PostBus line 846 from Allaman railway station to the Féchy Auberge stop, then walk for ten minutes. Check the timetable before travelling.

History and heritage

The church of Saint Sulpice in Féchy is documented from 1188 and is classified as a historic monument. The Vy de l’Etraz at the foot of the Jura belongs to the oldest currently identifiable layer of roads. The building history of Le Saugey can also be dated: the Grande Maison was built in 1558. Several manor houses with large outbuildings were built nearby in the 17th and 18th centuries. Burgundian graves were discovered at Le Tombey.

La Gordanne is considered a masterpiece of neo-Palladian architecture and one of the major monuments of Swiss cultural heritage. It is also classified as a cultural property of national importance. These historical connections range from the earliest records of the church and archaeological discoveries to buildings spanning several centuries.
