Etoy offers several distinct focal points when choosing a destination: winegrowing, historic buildings and local activities. If you are looking for a hotel in Etoy, you can first consider whether the wine country, local history or a particular experience should shape your stay. Agriculture, winegrowing and fruit growing remain part of the village centre; the municipality has 53 hectares of vineyards. At the heart of Etoy, the Priory Quarter preserves several historic buildings connected with the village’s history.

Getting Here and Finding Your Way

The iLife City Centre is a ten-minute walk from Etoy railway station. By car, take the Aubonne exit from the A1; by public transport, the centre is accessible via MBC line 724. Check the latest connections before travelling. The line 724 route between Morges, Etoy and Allaman offers an onboard audio guide. A round trip with the audio guide takes about an hour on average.

Local History in the Priory Quarter

The priory is one of Etoy’s oldest residential buildings. The village’s origins may date back to the 12th century. A contract from 1145 is the earliest known document to mention Etoy; in 1177, the “Cella de Stoi”—the Priory of Etoy—is mentioned as part of the benefices and holdings of the Congregation of the Great St Bernard. These dates mark different historical points of reference: the village’s earliest written mention and the later record of the priory.

The church in the Priory Quarter contains a triumphal arch dating from the 12th century. The church tower was once a defensive tower with loopholes and houses, among other things, a bell dating from 1630. Etoy Castle has also changed over time: its tower has disappeared, and the building now looks like a patrician house. For more than 50 years, it was home to the family of the writer Guy de Pourtalès.

Winegrowing and Local Produce

Etoy has around a dozen winegrowers who produce almost 500,000 bottles of wine each year. The vineyards of La Châtaigneraie lie on the western edge of the municipality, along the Aubonne. The Chasselas from La Châtaigneraie comes from old vines, and the grapes are harvested by hand. La Châtaigneraie accepts enquiries about wine tastings and vineyard visits; make arrangements before your visit.

Domaine de Joli Clos has a tasting room with panoramic views of Lake Geneva and Savoy. Domaine de la Romanèche is a fruit-growing and winegrowing estate that cultivates a wide selection of apple and pear varieties, as well as grape varieties. The Patrick & Joëlle Lüthi family winery manages five hectares of vineyards in Etoy and Yens. These examples showcase different aspects of local production, from hand-harvested Chasselas to fruit growing.

Activities and Planning Your Time

Escape Etoy is a live escape game with three different rooms. The games are designed for groups of two to seven people and last 60 minutes. One scenario involves searching for treasure aboard a pirate ship; the range of scenarios may change. Public games are held daily at LaseRed. Check whether the offer applies to your date before visiting.

The “Balade le long de l'Aubonne: Etoy-Allaman” walking route also offers a direct connection to the landscape. It starts at the Hôtel Afterwork in Etoy, heads towards the forest and follows the edge of the forest along the Aubonne. Check the latest route information before setting out. If you would like to plan other activities in the area, Littoral Parc offers a wide range of shops, businesses, cafés, restaurants and activities.
