Rossrüti: Wil Tower, Routes and Local Impressions
Accommodation in Rossrüti
Rossrüti can be explored through several specific local features: Wil Tower, the regional walking and cycling route between Rossrüti and Rislen, a mural in the school building, and the opportunity to shop directly at a cheese dairy. These topics help you get to know the area according to different interests—views, routes, art, or local shopping. The route descriptions are clearly distinct from the individual destinations in the area.
Wil Tower and the view
Wil Tower is an all-wood construction and an observation tower in Rossrüti. A double spiral staircase leads up 189 steps to the viewing platform, 34 metres above the ground. From there, you can enjoy a good view of Rossrüti and the surrounding area. The number of steps and the height of the platform give the climb clear measurements; the double spiral staircase and wooden construction define the design. The tower can also be reached from Rossrüti. In summer, it is suitable for family outings, hikes, and picnics. If you choose a viewpoint as your main focus, the tower itself and the view over Rossrüti take centre stage here.
Choosing a route: connection or loop
Two types of route should be distinguished. Regional walking and cycling route No. 47 runs between Rossrüti and the hamlet of Rislen. This identifies the places along the route and its function for walking and cycling. The route around Wil, by contrast, is a well-signposted circular route measuring 32.9 kilometres. Route No. 47 focuses on the connection between Rossrüti and Rislen and its use for walking and cycling; the route around Wil is defined by its circular format, length, and signposting. This lets you distinguish a connection between two named places from a signposted circular tour by their respective features.
Art and getting around locally
The mural “Mosaic” by Gret Häni is located in the Rossrüti school building. Freizeithaus Rossrüti playground is at Oberdorfstrasse 3, 9512 Rossrüti. These are two distinct points of reference: the mural is identified by its title, artist, and location, while the playground is given a full street address. The artwork is associated with the school building, while the playground is listed under its own name and address.
Cheese and dated events
You can buy directly from Bodensee Käse at the cheese dairy at Rislen 489, CH-9512 Rossrüti. A dated Christmas market took place on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, on Oberdorfstrasse in Rossrüti: the IG Rossrüti invited visitors from 16:00 to 20:15 and announced Raclette from the Oberli village cheese dairy for the market.
At the second Rossrüti Genusswanderung (Food and Wine Walk) in June 2022, the route covered five kilometres. For this edition, an optional extended circuit was available for keen hikers, as well as a shorter circuit with various play opportunities for families with children. The Wil local community and Feldhof Rossrüti offered Wil wine and cheese platters. The circuits and offerings described were part of that event at the time.
