Oberdorf – Hiking Trails, Ridlikapelle and Lakeshore
Accommodation in Oberdorf
For hikers, Oberdorf is a specific waypoint on several routes. The hike “Along the Lakeshore from Ennetbürgen to Beckenried” runs mostly on paved surfaces and is suitable for pushchairs. It continues through Oberdorf to the Beckenried boat station and crosses the Träschlibach and Lielibach streams.
Hiking trails with Oberdorf as a stage
The hike is also part of the sixth stage of the Waldstätterweg and belongs to SwitzerlandMobility Route No. 98. In addition to its own name, it therefore has a stage affiliation and a route number that can help with navigation. The paved surface and suitability for pushchairs are practical criteria for choosing this particular hike; the named places and streams provide further points of reference along the route.
The Way of St. James also passes through Oberdorf: first, it leads to the Ridlikapelle in Beckenried’s Oberdorf district, then along the lakeshore to Buochs. The Bürgenstock–Ennetbürgen–Beckenried route also runs through Oberdorf and continues to the Beckenried landing stage. The routes differ in their stated destinations: on the Way of St. James, the chapel is followed by the lakeside path and Buochs; the other route leads to the landing stage. The hike from Ennetbürgen to Beckenried, in turn, can be identified by its two stream crossings and its connection to the Waldstätterweg.
Ridlikapelle and historical points of reference
The Ridlikapelle stands on a small hill above Lake Lucerne and is a protected monument. It was first mentioned by name in 1605. It is also a destination on the Way of St. James through Oberdorf. Its location above the lake, protected status and historical mention give the site both a landscape and a cultural-historical significance, aspects that are closely connected.
Another historical point of reference is the Helgenstöckli on Ridlistrasse. It dates from 1865 and has been renovated. The chapel and the Helgenstöckli are two distinct, specifically named landmarks that help visitors understand the area’s history.
Beckenried and the wider area
As additional context for planning outings: Beckenried lies on the southern shore of Lake Lucerne, at the foot of Klewenalp, and offers views of the Rigi excursion mountain across the lake. Cable cars provide access to the Klewenalp and StockhĂĽtte hiking and ski area. This information concerns Beckenried and its surroundings; it complements the overview of the trails and the Ridlikapelle in Oberdorf.
In the area around Beckenried, Klewenalp offers opportunities for hiking, climbing, mountain biking and paragliding in summer. In winter, skiing, snowboarding, sledging, snowshoeing and Nordic walking are possible in the Klewenalp–Stockhütte area. The seasonal distinction helps you choose among these activities based on your travel dates and preferred focus.
The Risletenschlucht gorge in the area around Beckenried features waterfalls, potholes and rock formations. In summer, swimming and mini golf are available by the lake. Alongside the routes and cultural sights in Oberdorf, there are also natural attractions and leisure activities to choose from in the wider Beckenried area.
