Tschierv combines winter sports, trails through the mountain landscape and local culture. The family-friendly Minschuns ski area is located in the village. There are also routes for cross-country skiing, winter hiking and sledging, as well as activities that explore the history and nature of Val Müstair.

Skiing, cross-country skiing and winter trails

At the Minschuns ski area, you can ski or snowboard on well-maintained slopes and reach altitudes of up to 2,700 metres. The high-alpine Plaun da l’Aua cross-country ski trail starts at Alp da Munt, at an altitude of 2,150 metres. The ski area and trail offer different ways to enjoy a day in the snow; winter activities are seasonal.

The Senda Alp da Munt–Alp Champatsch winter panoramic trail starts at the valley station of the Minschuns ski area. It leads from Lai da Juata through Swiss stone pine forests to Alp Champatsch; along the way, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Alps of Val Müstair and the Ortler. The trail passes through wildlife quiet zones. Stay on the forest paths and follow the seasonal notices.

Another winter route leads from Alp da Munt via Alp Champatsch to Lü and is suitable for winter hiking and sledging. This is distinct from the Lü–Tschierv sledging run: the four-kilometre descent passes through snow-covered forests and is partly illuminated. The routes can therefore be distinguished by their starting and ending points, rather than combined into a single tour.

A stage of the National Park Bike Tour also passes through Tschierv: the second stage heads down the valley via Fuldera to the entrance to Val Vau. Tschierv also has a heated outdoor swimming pool. The former Tour de Ski cross-country trail is also located in the village.

Trails, nature and regional experiences

The «A la riva dal Rom» themed trail explores the history, unique habitats and legends surrounding the Rombach. It starts at the source of the Rombach in Süsom-Tschierv and leads to Müstair. Alongside the winter panoramic trail, the village also has a walking trail whose themes focus specifically on the river and its surroundings.

On the seasonal «Wildlife in Winter» excursion, participants learn to read animal tracks and trails and find out how animals survive the winter. The excursion starts and ends at the valley station of the Minschuns ski area. Chamois and ibex can be spotted; you may also see golden eagles and bearded vultures. Sightings are not guaranteed, and dates may change. Check the date before planning your excursion.

A cultural highlight in the village is the Reformed Church of Tschierv: its organ was built in 1807 by organ builder Josef Fuchs. Chalandamarz takes place every year on 1 March; the procession makes its way through the streets of Tschierv to the end of the hamlet. Guided tours and tastings at Antica Distilleria Beretta-Filli are available by appointment. You should therefore arrange a time in advance for these visits.
