Accommodation in Oberfrittenbach
The Oberfrittenbachgraben is one of the longest side valleys and cross valleys of the Ilfis. Oberfrittenbach is a locality in the municipality of Langnau im Emmental. A hike through the Oberfrittenbachgraben passes the Hollenscheuer, an old farmhouse with a magnificent garden. Between the valley landscape, regional production and local events, this creates a clearly defined way of experiencing the locality.
Nature
Several route descriptions lead through different parts of the Oberfrittenbach area. Three hiking loops start and end at the Oberfrittenbach, Grebli railway platform. A hike in June led from Oberfrittenbach to the Upper Frittenbachgraben. The 15th stage of the Alpine Panorama Trail deviates from the actual route and begins at Aeugstmatt in the Upper Frittenbachgraben rather than directly on the Lüderenalp. A roughly 650-metre-long section of path in the direction of Mittler Lihnen, which had previously been impassable, was repaired. In good weather, the Oberfrittenbach picnic area offers opportunities for a picnic outdoors. BLS uses the route designation 286 “Langnau i.E.–Oberfrittenbach–Aeugstmatt”.
The route descriptions thus refer to different locations: the Oberfrittenbach, Grebli railway platform is both the starting point and the endpoint for three loops, while the June hike named the Upper Frittenbachgraben as its destination. On the 15th stage, the reference point is Aeugstmatt; the deviation from the actual route and the reference to the repaired section in the direction of Mittler Lihnen explicitly show the different route alignments. Together with the BLS route designation 286, this makes it clear that Oberfrittenbach, the Upper Frittenbachgraben, Aeugstmatt and Mittler Lihnen are not the same place name in the route descriptions. The picnic area supplements this route information with an explicitly named place for a picnic outdoors in good weather.
