Aeschiried: Hiking and Winter Activities
Accommodation in Aeschiried
If you are planning a stay in Aeschiried, it is worth considering the trails and seasonal activities you would like to enjoy. Details such as starting points, routes and walking times vary, from a circular hike lasting several hours to a themed trail with marble runs and paths in the Suldtal. In winter, several activities depend on snow conditions or seasonal operation.
Hiking Trails and Circular Routes
The Alpine Bänklirundweg starts and ends at the Aeschiried Schulhaus bus stop. Its 10.2-kilometre route is listed as taking 3 hours and 45 minutes to walk; after Greberegg, the trail descends into the Suldtal along a small path. For this longer day hike, check seasonal conditions and the time estimates before setting out.
The Seeblick circular route also starts at the Aeschiried Schulhaus bus stop and returns to its starting point. Along some sections, you can enjoy views of Lake Thun. The two circular routes therefore differ in their described courses: after Greberegg, the Bänklirundweg leads into the Suldtal, while the Seeblick circular route includes occasional lake views and a return to the starting point.
The Chugeli Trail is about 4.7 kilometres long, features ten marble runs and takes 2 to 3 hours of walking time. It starts at the Schulhaus Aeschiried bus stop and ends in Aeschi village square. At the starting point, by the Aeschiried Schulhaus terminus, there is a vending machine for wooden marbles; the corresponding hiking map is available free of charge in the postbus shelter next door. These practical details may change, so check them before your visit. There is a playground by the former schoolhouse in Aeschiried, right next to the postbus terminus.
In the Suldtal Nature Reserve
The Suldtal Nature Reserve offers numerous hiking and mountain biking routes, as well as picnic spots along the Suld stream. A short circular trail leads to Pochtenfall, which can be reached on foot in 15 minutes. The area is accessible from early May to the end of October; as access and trail conditions may vary by season, it is advisable to check your plans in advance.
The short circular trail to Pochtenfall can be reached on foot in 15 minutes; from Aeschiried, it takes about an hour to walk to the Gasthaus Suld in the Suldtal. These times refer to different destinations and routes. The walking time to the inn is approximate and depends on the route and conditions.
Winter Activities and Snow Conditions
Aeschiried has a well-groomed sledging run; its winter operation depends on snow conditions. In winters with plenty of snow, the cross-country ski trail network covers 35 kilometres. It runs in loops through Aeschi, Seewenegg and Aeschiried, continuing as far as lower Obersuld and the Suldtal. This distance therefore applies to winters with plenty of snow.
The Aeschiallmend and Allmispitz surface lifts provide access to red, blue and black runs. Lift and slope operations are seasonal. If you are planning your trip around winter activities, check snow conditions and the operation of the facilities in advance.
