When choosing a destination for your hotel stay, it is worth considering what you would like to experience there. Timmersdala offers diverse nature and lovely hiking areas, as well as opportunities for exercise and a distinctive local history. If you factor nature, walks and historic streetscapes into your travel plans, you will find several different points of interest in Timmersdala.

Nature and Exercise

The varied natural surroundings and hiking areas shape Timmersdala’s leisure activities. Timmersdalavallen has a sports field and a ski slope. The outdoor fitness trail in Timmersdala is maintained by the volunteer association Timmersdala Motion. These different facilities give exercise its own place alongside the hiking areas, without needing to combine them into a single offering.

A walk can begin at Tymers motionsstuga, by the lit trail north of Timmersdala. There, an information board provides details about the area and its history. This combines time outdoors with a specific insight into the area: you can use your walk as an opportunity to consider the information on the board as part of your experience of the landscape.

From Church Village to Station Settlement

Two different time periods are of interest when putting the history in context. The village of Timmersdala is mentioned in written sources from 1415. Timmersdala later developed as a station settlement alongside an older church village. This development provides a historical reference point distinct from the early written mention.

Transport is also part of the area’s history. Passenger rail services through Timmersdala ended in 1932. In the 1940s, Timmersdala had Sweden’s busiest rural bus station, with 54 departures per day. These two facts illustrate different phases in transport history: first the end of passenger rail services, then the exceptionally high number of daily bus departures.

Church, Kyrkvägen and Historic Buildings

The parish church stands near Timmersdala on a medieval church site. It occupies a very prominent position there and is visible across the surrounding area. Kyrkvägen also points to the area’s older layout: the street has this name today, though it used to be the village street. Its route, the surrounding trees and buildings—including the church—create a valuable historic streetscape.

Other buildings add to this picture. Stommen is a very well-preserved older farmstead, with a residential building dating from 1856 and a farm complex from around the turn of the 20th century. The mission house in Timmersdala dates from 1898, was later partly altered, and is one of the few surviving older community buildings in the area with local historical significance. Together, the church, street and buildings reveal different aspects of local history.

Swimming Area and Retro Café

If you would also like to include a swimming spot in your trip, Lången is about 2 kilometres south of Timmersdala, where there is a swimming area. The approximate distance and direction provide clear guidance, while the hiking areas and historic streetscapes offer other interests during your stay.

Gulf Timmersdala is home to a retro café with a classic 1950s atmosphere. Its interior features a chequered floor, red leather sofas and teak furniture. For directions, a route is listed using bus 613 from Skövde Resecentrum to the Timmersdala bus stop; from there, it is about a 200-metre walk. Check current departure times before planning your journey.
