For a stay in Torestorp, you can choose from a range of different focuses, including nature, walking trails, local history and events. There are various points of interest in the village and its surroundings—from Sju Strömmar in the centre to hiking trails and historic sites farther afield.

Sju Strömmar and trails by the water

Sju Strömmar is part of the Torestorpsån in the centre of Torestorp. There, the river divides into seven separate streams. The area is protected as a Natura 2000 site and can be explored via walking paths and bridges. This lets you discover the waterscape on foot. You can also go paddling in Torestorp.

Other trails lead into the surrounding area. Hyltenäs kulle is 6 km from Torestorp. There, a 3 km hiking trail runs through leafy mixed woodland along Öresjön. These two figures describe different distances: 6 km is the distance from Torestorp, while 3 km is the length of the hiking trail. The 18 km Viskastigen begins to the south at Agnbäck, on the road between Torestorp and Kungsäter. The Torestorpsturerna trails begin in Torestorp.

Swimming and fishing

Just outside Torestorp is Sandsjön, with a sandy beach and bathing jetties. You can also fish in the nearby lakes Tolken and Sandsjön. Each lake has its own local fishing permit. Before fishing, check which permit applies to the lake in question.

Church and local history

Torestorps kyrka was built in 1785–86 in the Karl Johan style. Its ceiling paintings date from 1801, and the wooden baptismal font was made locally in 1900. The construction period, paintings and baptismal font therefore provide different points of reference for the church’s history.

The Kolabacken local heritage farm is 2 km outside Torestorp, in the direction of Älekulla. The local heritage association holds Midsummer celebrations there; its activities also include Walpurgis celebrations and craft fairs. The programme may vary. If an event is important to your visit, check the relevant dates.

Påskracet and local crafts

Påskracet takes place every year at Easter on Good Friday. For the event, 2,000 ducks are released into the Torestorpsån and then make their way along the course through the village. Details of how it is run may vary. If you want to plan your trip around the event, check the information for the year of your visit.

In the centre of Torestorp, Trendhuset includes a café serving coffee and pastries. Since the café’s operations may change, it is a good idea to check the latest information before visiting. Gumselid makes products from wool, sheepskin, clay, steel wire and textiles. The product range may change.

When planning your stay, you can choose between different focuses: Sju Strömmar and the trails offer opportunities to enjoy nature and get active, Sandsjön is a destination for a swim, and Torestorps kyrka or Kolabacken offer a glimpse of local history and events. This lets you prioritise activities and possible event dates according to what you would like to experience during your stay.
