Romelanda is a suitable destination if you want to focus on nature, golf and local history in different ways. In LysegĂ„rden Nature Reserve, the VallerĂ„n River forms a waterfall about 38 metres high on the southern side of Mount Örnekulan. Within the same nature reserve, the river provides a habitat and spawning ground for sea trout. LysegĂ„rden thus combines a striking landscape feature with ecological significance that extends beyond the waterfall.

These offer two perspectives for choosing a nature-related theme: the height describes the landscape, while the sea trout point to the river’s role as a habitat. You can therefore explore Romelanda with the waterfall as your destination, or with the river’s ecology in mind. LysegĂ„rden is in the parish of Romelanda.

Nature in LysegÄrden and DösebackaplatÄn

To visit the waterfall, you can park at the golf course car park and follow the path through the golf course to the waterfall. Check access conditions before travelling, as local conditions may change. DösebackaplatÄn Nature Reserve is also in the parish of Romelanda and the municipality of KungÀlv.

Golf with two ways to play

LysegÄrdens Golfklubb offers Pay&Play on a full-length golf course. There is also a four-hole short course, where everyone is welcome to practise or play for fun. The options differ in course length and use: Pay&Play is available on the full-length course, while the short course is specifically offered for practice or casual play. You can consider in advance which format better suits your plans. Check the terms for your chosen option before booking.

Local history and architecture

The museums of Romelanda Hembygdsförening are located at Lid Farm in Romelanda and display local objects that tell the story of Romelanda’s history. The association also offers tours of the heritage farm; check the dates before travelling. This lets you choose between exploring local history through objects and taking a guided tour of the heritage farm.

Another architectural highlight is Norrmannebo Chapel, also called Romelanda Chapel. The small brick church has a narrower and lower chancel, as well as a roof turret. It was built in a style inspired by National Romanticism, with Baroque elements. There are two aspects to consider: the visible architectural form and the combination of styles. A roof turret is a tower-like structure on the roof; alongside the chancel’s proportions, it offers another specific detail to look for when viewing the church. While the museums convey local history through objects, the chapel brings the church building itself into focus.
