Mölnlycke: Discover culture, nature and trails
Accommodation in Mölnlycke
Mölnlycke combines themes from industrial and cultural history with recreation areas in the centre and nature in the surrounding area. Mölnlycke kulturhus, Massetjärnsparken and the landscapes around Rådasjön offer different starting points for planning your trip.
Green spaces and industrial history
Massetjärnsparken is a recreation area around Massetjärn in the centre of Mölnlycke. Walking and cycling paths cross the park between the centre and Mölnlycke Fabriker. The latter was founded in 1849 by the Hennig-Wendel family. The park has a beach volleyball court and open lawns for ball games and spontaneous activities. As some facilities may change, check what is available before your visit. Wendelsberg is another natural, cultural and recreational area in the centre.
Culture at Mölnlycke kulturhus and Råda kyrka
Mölnlycke kulturhus hosts concerts, family performances, author events, lectures, book circles and storytelling sessions. There are also art exhibitions on several floors, as well as artistic features made from stone mosaics and ceramic symbols. The programme thus includes both a variety of events and art within the building.
Råda kyrka is in Mölnlycke. The small red wooden church was built in 1712 and has largely retained its character as an 18th-century wooden church. It is open on weekdays from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm; on weekends, it is open in connection with services. This information can help you plan the timing of a possible visit.
Rådasjön and Råda Säteri
In the area around Mölnlycke, the Rådasjön Nature Reserve includes Lake Rådasjön, woodland along the shore, open grazing land and deciduous forests characterised by oak trees. Nearby, a marked 12-kilometre loop runs around the lake. It mostly follows gravelled nature trails through deciduous woodland close to the water. This means you can take the route’s length and predominantly natural-surface terrain into account when planning.
The nature reserve can be reached via the Mölnlycketerminalen or Råda Säteri bus stops, or by parking at Råda Säteri or in the car park in central Mölnlycke. A lit walking and cycling path also runs all the way from Mölnlycke centre to Råda Säteri. The manor is within the nature reserve and is a well-preserved cultural-historical site with origins dating back to the 14th century. It includes manor buildings from the 18th century.
The formal garden at Råda Säteri features terraces, apple orchards, seasonal and perennial plantings, flower cultivation and a kitchen garden. The kitchen garden contains perennial medicinal plants that were historically used, among other things, for sleep problems, stomach aches and fever. These historical uses offer insight into the garden’s history, without making any claims about present-day medical use.
During the summer months, Trädgårdscaféet uses fresh ingredients from the kitchen garden. At Tesällskapet, you can book Afternoon Tea at Råda Säteri; tea tastings are also offered. Check current offerings and availability before your visit.
Routes near Finnsjön
Finnsjön has lit running tracks of 1 kilometre and 2.5 kilometres; both are adapted for people with disabilities. There is also a 6-kilometre route around Finnsjön with varied terrain. It differs from the two shorter running tracks in its greater length and changing surface. These details make it possible to factor the routes’ length and terrain into your plans.
