Lundsbrunn: Spa History and Nature
Accommodation in Lundsbrunn
Lundsbrunn combines a rich spa history with a gently rolling landscape and activities such as exploring nature, hiking, and cycling. If you are looking for a hotel in Lundsbrunn, you can tailor your stay to your plans: are you most interested in the history of the spa town, a day visit to the spa, or spending time outdoors? The local attractions offer different ways to plan your visit.
Healing Spring and Hotel Tradition
Lundsbrunn’s history is closely tied to its healing spring and the spa town that grew up around it. As early as 1724, the spring was known as the best healing spring in Västergötland. This early reputation is part of the town’s historical character and provides the backdrop for its development as a spa town.
Sörbodal, formerly called Stora byggningen, has a special place in the history of local hotels. It is one of Sweden’s oldest hotel buildings to have been continuously used as a hotel. In Lundsbrunn, you can discover both the history of the healing spring and a hotel tradition that continues to this day.
For a wellness visit, Nova Spa offers day-spa passes. If you plan to organize your stay around a visit, check the opening details before you travel.
Townscape and Nature
The terrain around Lundsbrunn is gently rolling. Farmland lies to the west, north, and east of the town, while a forest borders Lundsbrunn to the south. The landscape around the golf course also features a variety of elements: open areas, clusters of trees, woodland, ravines, ponds, and small lakes.
The Mariedalsån Nature Reserve winds through a beautiful stream ravine. The Sörboleden trail runs through the Mariedals Nature Reserve; along the route, boardwalks and bridges cross the meandering Mariedalsån. The hiking loop through the nature reserve is about 3 kilometers long. This approximate distance can help you choose a hike. Before setting out, also check current trail conditions and facilities.
Routes and Activities
The Lundsbrunn golf course has an 18-hole course and a 9-hole short course. The two options differ in course type and number of holes; the landscape of woodland, ravines, and small bodies of water is also part of the setting.
For a bike ride, there is a cycle path of about 6 kilometers between Götene and Lundsbrunn. It follows a former railway line. By comparison, the hiking loop through a nature reserve is about 3 kilometers long: the two distances refer to different activities and routes. The Lundsbrunn–Husaby pilgrimage trail starts at Dala-Kvarn.
Another option is a scenic train ride on the Skara–Lundsbrunn route, which is considered an experience for young and old alike. Check the train schedule before making plans.
Lekstationen is a large playground in a leafy setting next to the Lundsbrunn station area. The surface throughout the playground is accessible, with one exception: the “Don’t Touch the Ground” obstacle course area. If the surface design is important to your plans, bear this limitation in mind.
