Accommodation in Mellansel
Leisure activities range from paddling and swimming at the outdoor pool to hikes of varying lengths. This lets you plan your day around the specific activities you have in mind.
Water: river, outdoor pool and fishing waters
The Moälven flows through Mellansel. From there, you can paddle north along the river to Anundsjösjön and its lovely swimming spots. Three sturdy canoes are available to rent from Kanotuthyrning. Check availability before your arrival if you want to include a rental in your plans.
Mellanselsbadet has three heated outdoor pools with a water temperature of at least 26°C and three water slides; the longest is 26 metres. There is also a beach volleyball court. The paddling route and the outdoor pool offer different kinds of water activities: on the river, the focus is on the route heading north and its destinations, while at Mellanselsbadet it is on the pools and slides. Check the outdoor pool’s seasonal opening hours before visiting.
The fishing waters around Mellansel and Anundsjö are managed by Anundsjö Fiskevårdsområde.
Hiking at Antarsberget and on the Fäbodleden
At Antarsberget, the trail from the car park to the summit is about 2 km long and passes through slightly rocky, steep terrain in places. The hike leads to a viewpoint and picnic spots at the erected wind shelters, which have barbecue facilities. Check the condition of these facilities before visiting; trail conditions can vary by season.
The Fäbodleden is an approximately 14 km hiking route passing through fäbod sites associated with the villages of Mellansel, Västersel and Sörböle. In Mellansel, it is signposted and marked. Wet sections have been fitted with boardwalks, and a bridge crosses the watercourse between Djupsjön and Valmsjön. The route extends beyond Mellansel, so do not plan it as a loop entirely within the village.
The two hiking options differ in length and trail character: at Antarsberget, the trail runs about 2 km from the car park to the summit; the Fäbodleden is around 14 km long and passes through fäbod sites in several villages. You can therefore choose between a shorter route with a summit as its destination and a longer route spanning several villages. Trail conditions vary: at Antarsberget, the terrain is slightly rocky and steep in places; on the Fäbodleden, wet sections have been fitted with boardwalks.
