Altorpskogen, Djursholm Castle and its park, the chapel and the parks along the waterfront offer different points of interest. This makes it easy to explore the area according to your interests and focus your search for a hotel in Djursholm.

Forest and railway history

Altorpskogen is a large coniferous forest that has been preserved largely in a nearly untouched state. Small deciduous forest marshes lie along paths and training trails; at the same time, the area feels like a deep forest. Four training loops complement the paths and provide a specific focus on exercise.

The history of the Djursholmsbanan is also visible in the area: its former route can be traced through walking and cycling paths as well as preserved level crossings. This adds another perspective to Altorpskogen’s natural surroundings. While the training loops offer opportunities for exercise in the forest, the paths and preserved crossings show the former railway route.

Castle, park and chapel

Djursholm Castle Park dates back to the 16th century, when the castle was built. Djursholm Castle took on its present appearance in the 17th century under Svante Gustavsson Banér. The dates refer to different historical milestones: the origins of the park and the castle’s later development. Several walking paths and benches invite you to explore the park on foot.

Djursholm Castle can be rented for weddings, Christmas parties, birthday celebrations, conferences, kick-offs and dissertation dinners. If you are planning an event there, check availability for your preferred date.

Another architectural landmark is Djursholm Chapel. Built in 1898 in the Art Nouveau style, it is a wooden basilica on a tall granite plinth. Fredrik Lilljekvist was appointed architect for the planned chapel. In historical terms, the park’s origins in the 16th century, the castle’s present appearance from the 17th century and the chapel built in 1898 can thus be viewed side by side.

Water, walking paths and getting around

Germaniaparken has a cliffside bathing spot with a swimming ladder installed year-round. In summer, a diving board is also available; seasonal facilities may vary. If you plan to use the diving board, check conditions before your visit.

Samsöparken offers views across Samsöviken. With its outlet into Samsöviken and the new quay promenade, the park is part of the waterfront promenade. The views across the water and the promenade provide useful points of reference for planning your trip.

For getting around Djursholms villastad, Djursholms centrum is the nearest SL stop; it is a bus stop. Check the current timetable for your specific journey. Along with the area’s different highlights—including forest, architecture, park paths and waterfront—this information can help you choose Djursholm to suit your interests.
