Röstånga is one of the two gateways to Söderåsen National Park. The area offers several distinct points of interest to help you plan your trip: the landscape around Odensjön, hiking routes, and the history of Röstånga Church. If you are looking for a hotel in Röstånga, you can start by considering whether nature, a particular tour, or local history should shape your stay.

Nature around Odensjön and Nackarpsdalen

The spring-fed lake Odensjön lies in Röstånga and is surrounded by 30-metre-high rocky landslide slopes. Its water is clear and cold. The Odensjöpromenaden circular trail starts and ends in Röstånga and leads to the lake. This connects a start and finish in the village with a specific destination in the landscape.

Compared with the valley in Skäralid, Nackarpsdalen in Röstånga is rounder and flatter. It features open grassy areas and wooded slopes. Those interested in landscape forms can make these features a focus in their own right, alongside the lake and hiking routes.

The Jällabjär Nature Reserve lies near Röstånga. Hiking trails there lead across an ancient volcanic hill through forest and shrub-covered pastures. The Skåneleden SL3 Ås till ås reaches Jällabjär from Söderåsen National Park near Röstånga and continues to Anderstorps eneskog. The nature reserve is therefore both a hiking destination and a section of this route.

Hiking trails with different routes

The “Vulkanvandring mitt i Skåne” route runs for 27 kilometres from Röstånga to Frostavallen. Its first day’s section covers 4 kilometres from Röstånga to the Jällabjär campsite. These figures refer to different planning sections: the 4 kilometres describe the first day’s stage, not the total 27-kilometre route.

The Odensjöpromenaden can also be clearly distinguished from this route: it is a circular trail that starts and ends in Röstånga and leads to the spring-fed lake. This gives you a choice of routes with different destinations and itineraries. Bus route 518 stops at both main entrances to Söderåsen National Park as well as at the Röstånga busstation stop. As routes and timetables may change, check the latest connections before setting off.

Röstångagården may also be of interest to guests planning an event: the venue can be used for parties, courses, conferences, and weekend events. Check directly with the venue about the intended use before making plans.

Church history and tourism development

The original nave of Röstånga Church is believed to have been built around 1200 or slightly earlier. The church also has a Romanesque sandstone baptismal font dating to the 12th century. These two details give your view of the area a distinct historical focus alongside nature and hiking.

Röstånga’s development as a tourist destination is also historically linked to travel: the opening of the railway in Röstånga on 18 October 1892 helped turn the village into a tourist destination. The history of the railway at the time complements today’s themes of hiking trails, landscape, and local history.
