Lövestad brings together opportunities for hiking, architectural and cultural history, and places to visit in town. When looking for a hotel, you can decide whether to focus mainly on hiking or on cultural interests. The specific route details and the various historical traces offer different starting points for planning.

Hiking Around Lövestad

Stage 9 of the Skåneleden trail, “Heinge – Lövestads åsar,” is 6 kilometers long. A shorter option is the Lövestads åsar Nature Reserve, where an approximately 1.5-kilometer hike follows a ridge; the return route follows the path below the ridge.

Stage 10, “Lövestads åsar – Vitabäck,” offers a different landscape: it passes through beech forests and grazing land where purple orchids, grass-of-Parnassus, and pasqueflowers grow. The Heinge Strövområde recreation area is five kilometers north of Lövestad and can be reached on foot via the Skåneleden trail. Massastenen is southeast of the Lövestads åsar campsite.

Church and Local History

Lövestad’s present-day church was built in 1854–1856 to designs by Carl Georg Brunius. It was built in the Neo-Romanesque style with a T-shaped floor plan; the church interior has a coffered ceiling. Its construction period, style, floor plan, and ceiling offer different perspectives on church architecture.

Other historical points of interest include Kyrkvägen and the railway station. Kyrkvägen crosses the stream over a well-preserved 19th-century stone arch bridge. Lövestad railway station was built north of the church village when the Tomelilla–Eslöv railway line was laid in the 1860s. The station’s history can therefore be considered alongside the construction of the church in the mid-19th century. Lövestads kungsgård remains at its original location.

Art and Places to Visit in Town

Public art in Lövestad includes the Evert Fornäs sculpture park. Marknadsplatsen offers another point of reference: the playground is centrally located in the market square on Storgatan. The library is near the school. You can borrow books and films there, as well as order magazines.

Östra Färsbadet is an outdoor swimming pool in Lövestad. Spiken i Kistan also runs a shop in Lövestad; call ahead before your visit. These specific places add local amenities to the hiking and cultural attractions, without requiring the same kind of stay.

Cultural Traces Nearby

In the surrounding area, Hallsberg Gård has a collection of unusually shaped stone figures with engraved texts in its garden. This is a distinct cultural point of interest alongside the church, the railway station, and the public art in Lövestad. When planning your stay, you can prioritize the hikes and cultural attractions according to the interests that matter most for your trip.
