Marieholm: Industrial history, Laddran and Marieholmsbadet
Accommodation in Marieholm
Marieholm offers several reasons to visit: the history of the Marieholms yllefabrik, a flea market in the old industrial buildings, the Laddran recreation area and Marieholmsbadet. There is also a named cycling route and direct Pågatåg connections to four cities.
Industrial history and flea market
The Marieholms yllefabrik was founded in 1898; after about four decades, it employed approximately 400 people. This places the start of operations alongside a later workforce figure. A large flea market selling objects and second-hand clothing is located in the old industrial buildings of the Marieholms yllefabrik. The factory’s history and the buildings’ current use as a market represent two different phases of use at the same site: one belongs to the factory’s past, the other to the buildings’ present-day use.
Walking in Laddran
The Laddran recreation area lies southwest of Marieholm. It has wetlands and walking trails; the land is managed as hay meadows so that flora and wildlife can develop naturally. Meadow management is therefore part of the area’s character. An easy-to-walk path about one kilometre long runs around the pond. As a short, clearly defined loop around the pond, it differs from the other walking trails in the area.
Swimming at Marieholmsbadet
Marieholmsbadet has a 25-metre pool with a diving tower, as well as a paddling pool for small children. The 25-metre pool measures 25 × 12.5 metres and is between 0.9 and 4 metres deep. The measurements describe its length and width; the depth ranges from 0.9 to 4 metres. The length, width and depth refer to the 25-metre pool; the paddling pool is an additional area for small children. This distinction helps clarify which details apply to each pool area if swimming is one of your travel interests.
Cycling route and train connections
Marieholmsturen is a 15.9-kilometre cycling route. Check route conditions before setting out. Marieholm has direct Pågatåg connections to Helsingborg, as well as Eslöv, Lund and Malmö. Check current timetables with the transport operator before travelling by train. The cycling tour and train connections address different planning questions: the route is a specific activity with a stated length, while the train offers direct connections to four named cities. You can therefore consider separately whether the cycling tour or the connection to one of these places is more important for your stay.
A walk or a bike ride?
The two specific ways to get around also differ in distance: the path around the pond is about one kilometre long and easy to walk, while Marieholmsturen is a 15.9-kilometre cycling route. This puts a short walking loop alongside a considerably longer bike ride. The distances help you compare the scale of both activities when planning your trip.
