When planning a trip to Eslöv, several themes come together: city history, architecture and outdoor leisure. The local buildings tell stories of different eras, while nature and leisure activities offer other points of interest. The aspect that interests you most can shape how you see the city.

City History and Change

The Eslöv City Museum is housed in a merchant’s house dating from 1892, at Östergatan 5. The building gives the museum a specific address and a historical setting. The Eslövsresan exhibition offers a different way to explore the city’s development. It takes visitors through a range of themed displays and presents Eslöv from the first decade of the 20th century as it transitioned from an agricultural to an industrial society, as well as the major changes of the following century.

The exhibition thus covers a period stretching from the changes at the beginning of the 20th century to those of the century that followed. Those interested in local history will find an approach that puts social development at its centre; the museum itself is housed in a merchant’s house from the late 19th century.

Architecture and Building History

Eslöv’s railway station also tells a story of building history. Built in 1914, it is a listed building and the third station building on this site. It was also the first railway station in Sweden to have step-free access to the platforms via a tunnel for passengers and luggage. Its building history therefore encompasses both the succession of station buildings and a distinctive way of accessing the platforms.

A much later date marks Medborgarhuset: it was inaugurated on 28 September 1957 and is now an architectural heritage site visited by students and architecture enthusiasts from around the world. In contrast to the 1914 railway station, this building from the mid-20th century is the focus here. Eslöv Church adds its own architectural style to the picture: it is a Neo-Gothic brick church, and its style is known as “Eslöv Gothic”.

Stenberget also has a distinctive building history. In 1887, brewery director Christian E Nilsson, also known as “the King of Eslöv”, built it using stones left over from the construction of his villa. Here, the year, the builder and the reused material all come together. This sets this aspect of the city’s history apart from the construction dates of the railway station and Medborgarhuset: Stenberget’s story is shaped not only by when it was built, but also by where the stones used to build it came from.

Nature and Leisure in Eslöv

Eslövs allmänning, also known as Fäladen, is a nature reserve in central Eslöv. Its facilities include walking trails, benches and a barbecue area. The description thus combines paths for a stroll with places to sit and a designated spot for barbecuing.

Trollsjöområdet is a large park area surrounding Trollsjön in Eslöv. It has an 18-hole disc golf course, with holes of varying lengths. The number of holes and their different lengths offer specific points of reference for anyone interested in disc golf. The park area therefore offers a different kind of leisure activity from the walking trails at Eslövs allmänning.

The Trollsjön playground has swings, a trampoline, slides and a climbing tower with a climbing path and climbing ramp. Karlsrobadet swimming centre has four water slides. Facilities may change during renovations, so check the latest information before your visit. The leisure options mentioned are clearly varied: from walking trails to disc golf, playground equipment and water slides.

Cinema and Planning Your Visit

Bian cinema is located at Köpmansgatan 8 in central Eslöv and offers afternoon and evening screenings. Alongside the buildings, exhibition and outdoor activities, a cinema is also mentioned as a cultural destination in its own right. When planning your trip, you can decide how much to focus on city history, architecture, nature and leisure, depending on what you want from your stay.
