Rejmyre combines a long glassmaking tradition with craftsmanship and outdoor activities. Reijmyre Glassworks was founded in 1810 and is still in operation. There is also a glass museum, several workshops, shops and exhibitions in the glass and crafts village, as well as activities centered on trails and waterways. The range of things to do spans glass history and craftsmanship, cycling on Östgötaleden and paddling from Rejmyre.

Glass history and craftsmanship

Rejmyre Glass Museum displays historic glass and also provides information about glassmaking through the centuries. Historical objects are presented alongside an overview of how the craft has developed. A cart from the time when the historic cableway was in operation adds another piece of local history to the exhibition.

The glass and crafts village in Rejmyre includes several small workshops, shops and exhibitions. This mix offers a broader perspective on glass and craftsmanship beyond the museum’s displays. The Refuging Pavilion is also located in the heart of the glassworks village: a transparent, greenhouse-like dome. As part of the 2026–2027 residency, it serves as a studio and meeting place for the resident artists. The cultural profile thus ranges from glassmaking to contemporary artistic practice.

Local history at the church and petrol station

Rejmyre Church also reflects the history of the glassworks: it was originally built as a works chapel at Reijmyre Glassworks for its employees. The wooden chapel from which the church developed was built in 1837. Another example of community involvement is the Macken i Rejmyre petrol station. It was threatened with demolition before local residents joined forces to call for its preservation.

Östgötaleden: connection, trail surface and cycling

Rejmyre is the starting point for the Rejmyre–Falsnäset section of Östgötaleden. A marked, 0.7 km connecting trail leads from Rejmyre to the starting point, where the section towards Falsnäset begins. The 0.7 km refers to the connecting trail; the section itself runs mostly along gravel and forest paths and is also suitable for cycling. This makes it possible to distinguish between the short connection to the starting point and the characteristics of the route that follows. Rejmyre is accessible by public transport. Check connections for your chosen travel date when planning your journey.

Swimming area and scenery at Lake Hunn

Rejmyre swimming area is located on Lake Hunn in a sheltered woodland setting. It features large lawns, a sandy beach and a sandy lake bed. Lake Hunn itself is a long, narrow lake in a forested landscape, with several islands and beaches, making it suitable for a day trip. This gives visitors both a clearly described swimming area and the lake as a destination for an excursion.

Paddling from Rejmyre

Rejmyre Canoe Base invites visitors to paddle from Rejmyre. This offers a different focus from a visit centered on glass history or planning a trip along Östgötaleden: here, paddling takes center stage.
