Berga offers a range of options for a stay: designated cycling and activity routes, as well as railway, road and settlement history. The specific route lengths help you gauge the distances involved; historical connections offer a different perspective on the area and its surroundings. Depending on whether you are more interested in outdoor activity or local history, different aspects of Berga come to the fore.

Cycling and Activity Routes

The red cycling loop (RÖD SLINGA) runs from Berga via Basebo, Bohult, Släthult and Kalvenäs and back to Berga, covering 29 kilometres. Conditions on the RÖD SLINGA may change. The Lövhälläng loop is in the Lövhälläng area, measures 1.8 kilometres and includes 12 different signs; it is designated as an activity loop. There are illuminated training trails at Trädgårdsgatan 37, measuring 1.5 and 2.5 kilometres. In a direct comparison of distances, the 29-kilometre cycling loop is longer than the 1.8-kilometre activity loop and the 1.5- and 2.5-kilometre training trails.

Another cycling route north of Berga passes through an attractive cultural landscape and offers beautiful views of Lake Älgsjön. Views and route conditions may change seasonally. The suggested cycling routes around Berga run partly on gravel or paved roads and partly on easy forest paths; responsibility for road maintenance and path standards also varies. It is worth checking the relevant conditions before setting out.

Railway and Local History

Berga station is of cultural and historical interest and includes a well-preserved station building, an engine shed and old industrial buildings. Berga's development is connected with the establishment of the railway in the late 19th century. Berga's old country road offers another historical transport connection: traditionally known as Kungsvägen, it was historically the overland route between Kalmar and Stockholm.

Berga Church in Högsby parish adds a later historical milestone: it was completed in 1959 and inaugurated on 12 December of that year. It is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Rural Heritage and Cultural Life

There are also points of interest related to rural heritage around Berga. North of Berga, by Lake Älgsjön, lies the Elsabo manor estate, dating from the early 20th century. Skruvshult is also nearby and has an older village centre as well as two relatively well-preserved farmsteads. Elsabo and Skruvshult therefore represent different forms of rural heritage: a manor estate on the one hand, and a village centre with farmsteads on the other.

Cultural offerings in Berga include Berga Bio & Teater. It is run by a local community association and is also home to Emådalens Filmstudio. Café 3 århundraden is located in an old school in Berga and serves homemade pastries. It also includes an antique shop with a flea-market section.
