Bruksvallarna is shaped by open mountain landscapes and mountain birch forest; the Ljusnan River flows past the village. Cross-country skiing, hiking, cycling routes and cultural heritage sites offer different ways to enjoy a stay. Travel dates are also relevant when planning a hotel stay: trail grooming, the ski bus and some places to eat are seasonal.

Cross-country skiing and winter planning

The Bruksvallarna–Ramundberget valley has 110 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails; grooming is seasonal. Bruksvallarna also provides access to a 300-kilometre system for cross-country skiing and ski touring. It is worth checking the current trail status before your trip. The village has a 3.5-kilometre illuminated ski trail; the lights stay on until 8 pm. Operating conditions may vary by season. The Rullskidbana is a 9-kilometre paved roller-ski track from Bruksvallarna Ski Stadium to Ramundberget.

The Bruksvallsloppet is held every year in Bruksvallarna. It is considered the traditional start of the Swedish cross-country skiing season and has a history of more than 30 years. Dates and programme vary from year to year; plan your trip around the event dates for that year. The ski bus serves Bruksvallarna. Travel is free with a valid lift pass or trail pass; check the seasonal operating days for your dates.

Mountain trails and other activities

Päråkerstigen is an easy, 7-kilometre hiking trail that starts at Bruksvallarna Arena. Säterturen is a scenic circular hike through a well-preserved summer pasture area in the mountain landscape at the foot of Mittåkläppen. Kariknallsrundan passes through mountain birch forest, grassy bogs with many mountain flowers, and alongside a stream. The summit hut on Kariknallen is 1,050 metres above sea level.

The Byturen Bruksvallarna hike follows the 1,000-year-old Romboleden pilgrimage route and passes Viking Age graves. Gruvturen passes several mining areas where copper and iron ore were mined for over 200 years, starting in the 17th century. The route also passes an old mine cabin with an outdoor barbecue area.

Bruksvallarna is a starting point for cycling trips towards Funäsdalen. As trail conditions and seasonal access may change, check the latest conditions before setting out. Grayling, Arctic char and trout are found in the area around Bruksvallarna. The village is also part of a snowmobile trail network; there is a loading and unloading station at the village petrol station.
