Hofors: Forest Trails, Art and History
Accommodation in Hofors
In Hofors, nature, exercise, art and local history can each provide a different focus for a stay. If you are looking for a hotel in Hofors, specific trails, places and leisure activities can help you choose where to stay based on your interests. These include a forest hike, sports, ice skating, disc golf, a seed library and an exhibition space.
Forest trails and their different route profiles
The section of the Gästrikeleden leading south from Hofors is an 8 to 10-kilometre forest hike there and back. Storflyslingan, by contrast, is a 4.2-kilometre loop and is partly unlit. The two trails therefore differ in both length and layout: the Gästrikeleden is an out-and-back route, while Storflyslingan is a shorter loop. When planning your visit to Storflyslingan, also bear in mind that part of the route is unlit.
The Hofors exercise trails are located between Hoforshallen and StĂĄlringen. Their location offers a different point of reference from the distances and route layouts given for the two trails.
Exercise and ice skating
The EdskenspĂĄret cross-country ski trail starts at the illuminated running track by the Hoforshallen car park; the outdoor gym is just behind Hoforshallen. Public ice skating is available at the Hofors municipal ice rink. If you are planning to go ice skating, check the current opening times.
Disc golf in parkland and woodland
Hofors Discgolfbana is an 18-hole course in varied terrain with a park and woodland character. It is located in the park area between Västerleden and Bönhusberget; nine of the holes are designated beginner holes. The number of holes, the character of the terrain and the named group of holes provide different points of reference for understanding the course. The nine beginner holes therefore make up half of the 18-hole course.
History and art in Hofors
Hofors bruk was established in the late 17th century. Much of the original decorative interior at Hofors HerrgĂĄrd has been preserved. These offer different ways to explore the history of the area: the founding period of Hofors bruk and the preserved decoration at the HerrgĂĄrd.
Galleri Boken is the Hofors municipal art gallery and an exhibition space next to the entrance to Hofors Library. During the rest of the year, it hosts exhibitions resulting from collaborations with schools, associations and local artists.
Gardening interests and other leisure activities
At the Fröbibliotek seed library in the greenhouse, you can borrow seeds to grow in your own garden. If you would like to make use of this option, check the current borrowing information before your visit.
Hofors BMX/skatehall can be rented by clubs and for children's birthday parties; the bowling alley in Hofors can be rented for private events such as children's birthday parties.
