Pratdip: Mountain Scenery and Cultural Heritage
Accommodation in Pratdip
Pratdip lies on the southeastern slope of the Serra de Llaberia. The area of Pratdip is formed mainly by the valley of the Barranc de la Dòvia. Below the village, it meets the valley of Santa Marina. The Cingles de Mont-redon form the mountain backdrop. In this scenic setting, natural features sit alongside architectural history and a range of activities.
Scenery and the Santuari de Santa Marina
Several exceptional viewpoints offer views across the entire Camp de Tarragona. The Santuari de Santa Marina is located in a natural setting near Pratdip. The sanctuary includes a chapel dedicated to Saint Marina, a spring and a picnic area. The viewpoints and the Santuari offer different highlights: one focuses on the expansive view across the Camp de Tarragona, while the other features the chapel and the rest of the site.
Architectural History and Cultural Heritage
The architectural history of the Church of Santa Maria can be traced through several periods. It preserves a 12th-century apse; the rest of the building was remodelled in the 16th century and has chapels dating from the 18th century. One of the medieval defensive towers formed part of the town wall, which protected the village from the 13th or 14th century onwards. In 1985, this tower was classified as a Cultural Asset of National Interest in Catalonia.
The Torre de Cal Capet also preserves a specific architectural feature: its former entrance portal with a rounded arch. Els Tres Molins is a protected medieval monument of local cultural interest and consists of three watermills. These structures represent different aspects of Pratdip’s cultural heritage—religious architecture, fortifications and watermills.
