Os De Civís combines a historic centre with hiking trails in the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu. The entire area has been part of the nature park since 2003. Access is an important consideration when planning your trip: the paved road to Os De Civís can only be reached from Andorran territory. Road conditions can change; check them before setting out.

Historic Centre

Os De Civís was once an enclosed village built on a rocky outcrop. This layout helped preserve its buildings. A self-guided walk takes you through the oldest part of the village. An official park leaflet from 2021 rates the walk as very easy. The route also points out the former medieval moat. The walk is therefore about more than individual buildings: it also explores the layout of the oldest part of the village.

Church, Fresco and Tradition

Sant Pere d'Os de Civís is a Romanesque church that was later altered. These two features go together: the Romanesque classification describes its original construction, while the later alterations reflect another stage in its development. A Gothic fresco from Sant Pere d'Os de Civís is on display at the Museu Diocesà de la Seu d'Urgell. This distinction is useful when planning your visit: the fresco comes from the church but is displayed at the museum in La Seu d'Urgell. According to local tradition, Carlina (Carlina acaulis or Carlina acanthifolia) is placed on the thresholds of houses to protect against witches and evil spirits.

Visitor Centre and Borderlands

Visitor information is also linked to the village's history: the former village schools were converted into a visitor reception centre. The centre includes an exhibition about the borderlands. The school's new use and the exhibition's subject offer different ways to explore the village in the context of local history and the border region.

Bordes de Conflent and the Landscape

Near Os De Civís, the Bordes de Conflent are one of the few groups of bordes with a chapel. They lie at the foot of the 2,789 m-high Pic de Salòria, the highest point in Alt Urgell. This connects a local architectural detail with a clearly identified feature of the surrounding landscape. A forest track leads to the Bordes de Conflent.

Hiking and Mountain Biking

Marked hiking and mountain biking trails have been established in Os De Civís in connection with the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu. One option is the circular route to the Collada de Conflent: it is less than 10 km long, lies entirely within the nature park and partly follows a trail signposted by the park. The total walking time is three hours, not including breaks. Actual walking time depends on conditions and stops; trail conditions and signage may change. The routes differ in focus: the village walk takes you through the oldest part of the village, while the Collada route is a circular hike of less than 10 km with three hours of walking time, not including breaks.
