Fulleda offers a range of experiences for a stay: trails and views, historic architecture, memorial sites and a recurring festival. A seasonal premium wine experience adds to this selection. If you are looking for a hotel in Fulleda, you can plan your trip around the interests you would like to focus on while also taking into account the arrangements for the event, wine visit and journey.

Landscape, routes and views

The western half of the Ruta dels miradors i les fonts de Fulleda route runs through the protected natural area of Vall de Vinaixa, which is part of the European Union’s Natura 2000 network. The GR-3 is also among the routes available in Fulleda.

Mirador dels Pirineus is 700 metres from the route’s starting point. On clear days, it offers far-reaching views of the southern side of the Pyrenees. Route planning therefore combines a specific distance with a viewpoint whose panorama depends on clear weather.

Architecture and remembrance

The Church of Santa Maria dates from the early 14th century and is a late Romanesque building transitioning to Gothic. It has a single nave and a pointed barrel vault. A barrel vault extends lengthwise over a space; the term “pointed” describes its cross-sectional shape. At the head of the original building is a bell gable with three arches. During restoration work in 1986, part of the former Romanesque portal was uncovered.

The Racó del Bolet monument is on the outskirts of the village, almost 300 metres in the direction of Tarrés. It commemorates five children aged 12 to 16 who died on 12 February 1939 during the Spanish Civil War when an abandoned bomb box exploded. The monument was inaugurated on 9 February 2014. Fulleda also has a monument to Agustina d’Aragó, a heroine of the Spanish War of Independence whose parents came from the village. The Fulleda cooperative associated with the Antic Molí d’oli was founded in 1957.

Fira Heroica and wine experience

Fira Heroica is dedicated to Agustina d’Aragó and takes place on the third Sunday in September; individual editions may differ from this recurring date. The festival includes workshops, historical reenactments, guided visits to various local sights, games and communal meals. The programme may also vary from one edition to another. If you are planning your trip around the fair, check the specific date and programme.

Celler Matallonga’s seasonal premium experience includes a visit to the winery and vineyards, as well as a premium tasting of selected Matallonga wines and regional products. The tasting takes place among vineyards surrounded by Fulleda’s forests. Visits must be booked in advance and confirmed by the winery team. Factor in this requirement if you would like to make the wine experience the focus of your trip.
