Bassella brings together a range of travel interests: Museu Moto Bassella focuses on the history of the motorcycle, while churches and historic sites are part of its heritage. Local festivals, the Bassella Race and activities connected with the Rialb Reservoir round out the picture. When planning a stay, first decide whether to focus on the museum and architectural history, a particular event date or outdoor activities.

Motorcycle History and Motorsport

Museu Moto Bassella explores the history and development of the motorcycle through emblematic models. Its subject areas include competition, technology, cinema and military models. The four areas offer different perspectives, from competition and technology to cinema and military models. Specific exhibits may change, so check what is currently on offer before visiting. The museum also offers activities for children, and their program may change as well.

The Bassella Motocross Park offers a different way to experience motorcycles. The private racecourse is 1.6 kilometres long, is located on the baSSella experiences site and is homologated by the FCM. Unlike the museum, its focus is a racecourse. Homologation and availability may change; if the course is important to your trip, check its current status in advance.

Churches and Historic Sites

The parish church of Mare de Déu de l’Assumpció is popularly known as La Garrola. It was remodelled during the Baroque period and appears to be of Romanesque origin. Its architectural history thus combines a Baroque remodelling with a possible earlier origin.

Near the old road from Ogern to Oliana lies the old settlement of La Salsa, with the 11th-century Romanesque parish church of Sant Serni. The church has been restored several times. Nearby are anthropomorphic tombs and an oil press carved into the rock. Here, “anthropomorphic” means that the tombs are shaped like the human body. La Salsa thus brings together church architecture and archaeological traces.

At Castell de la Clua, the landscape setting takes centre stage: the castle stands on a rocky outcrop above a pronounced bend in the Segre. Taken together, the sites described here are clearly distinct: La Garrola is characterised by its remodelling history, La Salsa by its church and nearby finds, and Castell de la Clua by its position above the river bend.

Festivals and Event Dates

Sant Isidre is celebrated in Bassella on 15 May; the Festa Major takes place on the last Sunday in August. If your trip is timed to coincide with either festival, check the dates for the relevant year before planning your stay around them.

The Bassella Race is an annual enduro event in Bassella (Lleida). The 2026 edition took place from 6 to 8 February and featured an extensive program of races and activities for all age groups. For a later trip, check the dates of the relevant edition: the dates given here apply to the 2026 edition.

Activities at the Rialb Reservoir

Bassella Experience offers off-road experiences on two and four wheels, with exceptional views of the Rialb Reservoir. The birdwatching centre at the reservoir has several observation points. There is also an accessible path around the reservoir that can be walked without difficulty. This brings together different interests: off-road experiences, birdwatching from several observation points and a path around the reservoir. The availability of off-road activities may change; check in advance if you are interested. Also check the condition of the path locally before planning to use it.
