Teià brings together Roman winemaking history, an art collection, a festival with its own food traditions and hiking trails in Parc de la Serralada Litoral. If you’re looking for a hotel in Teià, these different themes can help you decide what to focus on during your trip. The activities also differ in how you need to plan for them: a guided visit requires a reservation, while hiking involves considering trailheads and route details.

Roman winemaking in Vallmora

The Celler romà i Centre Enoturístic i Arqueològic de Vallmora is a cultural institution in Teià that includes an archaeological site from the Roman period. The Roman winery at Vallmora was a centre of wine production in the territory of Roman Laietania. It was active from the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD. Vallmora therefore connects a specific place with the region’s long history of winemaking.

The visitor programme at the Centre Enoturístic i Arqueològic de Vallmora includes a guided visit at 11 am with a glass of DO Alella wine. Advance booking is essential. Check the visit details when planning, as programme information may change.

Drawings and art history

The Fons Batllori Jofré comprises more than 2,000 objects and drawings across three areas: a faithfully preserved studio, an archive with around 1,500 original works, and a permanent exhibition. The collection offers different ways to explore the work of the illustrator Antoni Batllori Jofré.

The permanent exhibition is housed in Ca la Cecília and opened on 11 September 2007. It presents an annotated biography of Batllori Jofré (1915–1999) and key moments in his career. These include his beginnings, Junceda’s influence, the Spanish Civil War, his heyday and his relationship with Teià. If you’re interested in drawing and an artist’s life story, the exhibition brings these themes together in a single visit.

Groups can request a guided visit at the Fons Batllori Jofré. It also includes a temporary exhibition, if one is on display at the time. Whether the exhibition can be included therefore depends on whether it is running on the day of your visit.

Sant Martí and Festa Major

Sant Martí church has a portal made of carved Montjuïc stone. The triangular pediment depicts Saint Martin on horseback. A large Neo-Gothic window dates from the 1902 renovation. These architectural details offer another point of interest if you’d like to explore the town’s architectural history as well as its archaeological sites.

Around 11 November, Teià celebrates the Festa Major de Sant Martí. The programme includes correfocs and drumming parades, a gathering of the giants, the Cercatasques, the Relleno competition and tasting, as well as exhibitions, music and theatre. Traditional Relleno is a slow-cooked dish of apples stuffed with meat and other ingredients. The festival programme therefore includes both parades and performances and a local food tradition.

Hiking trails and connections

Teià is one of the municipalities in Parc de la Serralada Litoral. The park’s protected administrative area covers 4,042 ha. The SL-C 111 Ruta del Vedat starts in Teià and is a circular route classified as easy. It passes through the surrounding area, by quarries, springs, cultivated land and granite formations.

From the Coll de Clau car park, you can follow the GR 92 to the Sant Mateu hermitage; the distance is 2.3 km. Route and access details may change, so check them before setting out. The two hiking options differ in the features described: the Ruta del Vedat is presented as a circular route through the landscape, while the GR 92 details the car park, destination and distance.

The C-15 municipal bus line connects Teià town centre with the centre of El Masnou and Ocata station. If you plan to use this connection, check the timetable before travelling, as service and timetable details may change.
