Santpedor brings together architectural history, places of remembrance and routes through the Pla de Bages countryside. If you are considering the town as a travel destination, you can easily distinguish between its attractions: medieval buildings and local history are as much a focus as circular routes, canal paths and nature spots. The following destinations show different sides of Santpedor, without requiring you to focus on just one type of outing.

Buildings and Historic Places of Remembrance

The Església de Sant Pere d'Or has both a Gothic bell tower and a Romanesque portal. These two architectural features reflect different traditions and give the building a distinctive profile. The Ermita de Sant Francesc is another historic building in the town: it dates from the 13th century and was later altered.

The Palau dels Comtes-Reis is part of medieval Santpedor. During a municipal guided tour of the Vila Medieval in 2023, it was presented as one of the medieval heritage sites. The Ruta del Timbaler del Bruc offers a different historical connection: the walk passes through various places in Santpedor that commemorate the Timbaler del Bruc and the Battle of Bruc. Architectural history and local remembrance thus stand side by side as distinct themes.

The Camino de San Jaime is also connected to Santpedor: the town preserves its traditions and traces. Together with the historic buildings and the memorial walk, this creates a cultural focus that is not limited to a single building.

Circular Routes and Paths Along the Sèquia

The Sender PRC-131 – Voltejant Santpedor is a circular route of about 28 kilometres. It starts and ends at the Aiguamoll de la Bòbila; the starting point is accessible by vehicle and has a car park. One section of the route, about one kilometre long, follows the Sèquia. This provides two different scales to consider when planning: the length of the entire circular route and the shorter section along the canal.

There are also three mountain biking (BTT) routes around the Sèquia. All three are circular routes, run through the municipality of Santpedor and connect Santpedor with the settlements along the canal. This shared focus sets them apart from the PRC-131, whose stated start and finish point is at the Aiguamoll de la Bòbila. When comparing routes, details about their circular layouts, lengths and courses offer concrete points of reference without presuming a walking or cycling time.

Countryside, Water and Unique Stops

The Pel riu d'Or fins a Burgueroles route passes through the agroforestry landscape of the Pla de Bages. The landscape described along the way is shaped by dry-farmed fields, small stands of stone pine and the Riu d'Or stream. The route also leads to a well-preserved brick kiln beside a weir on the Riu d'Or. Countryside and a historic structure lie along the same route, while the Tolls de la Riera de Bellver route features different stops.

This route passes a restored old flour mill below the large, still-working farmhouse of Vallbona. It also includes a series of waterfalls and pools covered with tufa, limestone and mosses. When choosing an outing, you can therefore identify different points of interest: an agroforestry landscape with a brick kiln on one route, and a mill, farmhouse and water features on the other.

Since May 2011, the Aiguamoll de la Bòbila has had an ornithological-literary trail featuring poems by Celdoni Fonoll. This connects the place—which is also named as the starting and finishing point of the PRC-131—with another distinct attraction at the same location: a trail where poems are part of the experience. Be sure to distinguish this trail from the longer circular route that starts and ends there.

Local Tradition and Travel Planning

The Fira de Sant Miquel is one of Santpedor's most deeply rooted commercial and cultural events, with a history spanning eight centuries. Together with the medieval buildings, the connection to the Camino de San Jaime and the various routes, it offers another way to explore the town's history and culture.
