Its approximate length and varying route make the technical installation understandable as a system of several elements. Unlike the church, the focus here is less on a single building and more on the connection between the water source, channel and washhouses.
Crosses and cultural heritage
The Baroque cross of Valella, the Creu de Valella, is classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural, or an Asset of Cultural Interest. Selva’s monumental crosses are usually made of stone and stood at the entrances to the districts that today make up the village of Selva. This brings two aspects of the villagescape into view: a specifically named Baroque cross with its cultural heritage classification, and the broader role of crosses at district entrances. While the Baroque style and classification are central to the Creu de Valella, the general reference to the monumental crosses describes their former position within the village layout.
The weekly market as a regular fixture
The weekly market is held every Wednesday from 08:00 to 13:00 in Plaça Major. This fixed schedule distinguishes the market from the church and heritage features, which are described as permanent: the right day of the week matters if you want to visit the market.
