Cala Gracio is a destination for travellers who want to combine beach days with a coastal walk and the history of Aquarium Cap Blanc. The cove is one of the small coves in the immediate vicinity of Sant Antoni. When choosing a hotel, it is helpful to consider the two coves, the route and the available activities as distinct parts of your stay. This makes it easier to decide whether the beach, a longer walk or the coastal scenery should be your main focus.

Coves, Beach and Coastal Scenery

At Cala Gracio, clear water, fine white sand and a pine forest shape the landscape. Rocky areas lie on either side, and juniper and pine trees surround the cove. Several traditional boathouses stand on one shore. Alongside the beach, rocks and vegetation, they form a distinct landmark on the coast.

Nearby Cala Gracioneta lies beyond a rocky headland and is smaller and narrower than Cala Gracio. The sheltered cove makes Cala Gracio and Cala Gracioneta together suitable for families, as well as for snorkelling and exploring the seabed. The two coves together feature sandy seabeds, rocks and areas of Posidonia seagrass.

Fishing and scuba diving are possible at Cala Gracio; local conditions may vary. The suitability for families and snorkelling applies to both coves. This distinguishes the activities mentioned specifically for Cala Gracio from the opportunities the coves have in common.

Choosing a Route and Getting There from Sant Antoni

From Sant Antoni, you can reach both coves with a short walk or by bus; the distance is approximately 2 km. If travelling by bus, it is advisable to check the timetable in advance. The approximate distance describes access from Sant Antoni, while the coastal walking route in the area is a separate excursion.

This route runs from Caló des Moro to Cala Gracio and the smaller Cala Gracioneta. It is 6.2 km long, reaches a highest point of 175 m above sea level and has a moderate difficulty level. The length, highest point and difficulty describe different aspects of the walk: its distance, elevation and character. Highlights include Aquarium Cap Blanc and the Cap Negret viewpoint. KMZ and GPX files are available to download for the route. As trail conditions can change, check them before setting out.

A Coastal Path with a History

Aquarium Cap Blanc is also popularly known as “Sa cova de ses llagostes”. The site was traditionally used as a lobster nursery; in 1989, it was converted into an aquarium. This transformation links the site's former use with its later conversion and gives the aquarium a historical connection to the coastal landscapes the route passes through.
