Discover Moscardón
Accommodation in Moscardón
Moscardón combines buildings in the town centre and religious tradition with a described hiking route and natural landmarks in the surrounding area. To help you plan your trip, you can choose between local architecture, the custom observed on the feast day of Saint Roch, and an interest in trails and nature. The sights and their locations give you specific points of reference to help decide which aspect of the town interests you most.
Buildings and Tradition
In the town centre of Moscardón stands the Iglesia de San Pedro Apóstol, an architecturally and culturally significant 18th-century building. The Ermita de San Roque is a simple rectangular masonry building. Its choir has a flat end; the gabled roof consists of two sloping sides that meet at the ridge and is covered with tiles. The ermita is currently set up as a cultural space. The Aljibe-Molino, a particularly interesting complex, is also part of the town’s civil architecture. Those interested in architectural heritage will therefore find a connection to Moscardón’s civil architecture as well as its religious buildings.
A local tradition is a procession, or pilgrimage, to the Ermita de San Roque. It takes place on 16 August, the feast day of Saint Roch, and follows the Mass at the parish church. The sequence therefore leads from the church service to the ermita. If you would like to take this custom into account when planning your trip, the feast day is the key date.
Landscape and Hiking
The Monumental Pino Gordo is a named viewpoint near Moscardón, above the Barranco de El Castellar. Nearby, the pine forests of La Cañada and the Arroyo Masegar are also places or landscape features of interest. The names refer to different aspects of the landscape: a viewpoint, pine forests and a stream. Together, they complement the town’s buildings with natural attractions in the surrounding area.
The Ruta senderista Moscardón–Masegar is a described hiking route. It runs from Moscardón to Masegar and is 5.7 kilometres long. The trail is considered mostly flat and easy to follow. Its length and condition provide different points of reference for planning; no walking time is specified. As trail conditions can change, it is advisable to check the latest route information before setting out.
A Nature Event with Fixed Dates
The 10th Sierra de Albarracín Orchid Days are a past edition. The event was scheduled to take place in Moscardón from 5 to 7 June 2026. The programme for this edition included a theoretical introduction to the families, genera and species of the Sierra de Albarracín. Practical excursions were intended to help participants identify and photographically document representative species from different habitats. The planned format thus combined botanical classification with practical identification and documentation in the field.
The Moscardón Tourist Office is located in the Antiguas Escuelas, Calle San Antonio 12.
