Secastilla offers several ways to plan a stay: hiking trails, historic buildings, and a visit to a winery. These themes can help you organize possible excursions according to your interests: sometimes the route itself is the focus, sometimes a former settlement or an architectural detail. At Bodegas Obergo, vineyards and a tasting of their products are also part of the experience.

Hiking Trails and Points of Interest

The Circular por Ubiergo y Bolturina circular hike starts at the swimming pools in Secastilla and follows a marked trail along a track to the abandoned village of Bolturina. Both the start and destination are specific: the route leads from a named starting point to a village that is now deserted. Those interested in former settlements will find a point of interest in Bolturina.

The PR-HU 76 hiking trail starts in Secastilla, leads to Olvena, and crosses the Barranco de Aspras. The PR-HU 77 runs from La Puebla de Castro via Secastilla to Puy de Cinca; after crossing the Barranco de Pallargüelo, it leads directly to Secastilla. This means Secastilla is the starting point of the PR-HU 76, while on the PR-HU 77 it is a stop along the route between La Puebla de Castro and Puy de Cinca. The PR-HU 77 also offers a connection with the landscape: along the slopes of the Arroyo de la Selva, the trail passes dense stands of strawberry trees.

Historic Buildings

El Castiello offers a different historical focus. A wall made of conglomerate stone blocks, which belonged to an old fortress, has been preserved there. The wall dates from between the mid-10th century and the beginning of the 11th century and is attributed to Muslims. This historical classification is based on the construction technique and ceramic fragments.

The ruins of a small, single-nave Romanesque church called San Valero, with a semicircular apse, are located at the former settlement of Secastilla. “Single-nave” describes a church space with one main nave; here, the apse forms a semicircular end. Unlike the fortress wall at El Castiello, San Valero is a church building. These features give you two specific points of comparison: the former fortress function and the Romanesque church layout.

Vineyards and Bodegas Obergo

At Bodegas Obergo, near Ubiergo in the municipality of Secastilla, you can combine a walk through the vineyards with a visit to the winery and a tasting of its products. Here, the visit and tasting are just as much a focus as the walk. Visit arrangements may change. Check the available options in advance if you plan to include this activity.
