In Benalmádena, you can choose from different focuses for your trip: the coast, culture and trails through natural areas. If you’re looking for a hotel, first consider what you want your days to revolve around. Would you like to spend time on the coast, visit cultural sites or plan hiking routes? Compare these priorities with the specific details of each hotel offer.

Coast and Port

Along the coast, you can sunbathe, dive among the rocks and go paddleboarding. Beach bars serve espeto meals. Puerto Deportivo de Benalmádena has more than 1,000 berths for boats between 6 and 35 metres long. There is also a 40,000-square-metre commercial and residential area. The port therefore includes not only berths, but also a designated commercial and residential area.

For step-free access, Benalmádena has a seafront promenade. Some beaches have ramps, amphibious vehicles, adapted showers, pergolas, walkways and sun loungers. The availability of these facilities can change, so it’s best to check the local information before your trip.

Museums, Architecture and Events

The Centro de la Historia de Benalmádena has two exhibitions on the municipality’s historical and archaeological heritage. The exhibition “La villa de Benalroma” describes finds from Benalmádena’s most important Roman archaeological site. The Museo de Arte Precolombino Felipe Orlando focuses on other collections: it displays more than 700 pre-Columbian pieces and around 120 pieces of local archaeology. Free audio guides are available for adults and children in Spanish and English. Free guided tours are also available for groups and school classes by prior telephone or electronic booking. Check the booking requirements before your visit.

Architecture and cultural events are also part of the town’s appeal. Castillo El Bil-Bil combines Neo-Mudéjar and Neo-Arab styles; concerts, exhibitions and conferences are held there each year. Another annual event is El Paso: this theatrical portrayal of the Passion and death of Jesus Christ in Parque Rústico El Retamar brings together thousands of people every year. If you’re planning a trip for this occasion, check the event dates for your travel period.

Hiking and Green Spaces

Hiking options range from sections of the Gran Senda de Málaga to trails within the municipality. The Gran Senda passes through Benalmádena: Stage 33 runs from Mijas to Benalmádena, and Stage 34 from Benalmádena to Alhaurín de la Torre. The municipality also has around 45 kilometres of hiking trails through particularly scenic natural areas.

The Sendero Fluvial del Arroyo Pantano connects Avenida de Arroyo Hondo with Parque Albaytar. This easily accessible route, with a gentle gradient, follows the stream through a landscape of great botanical diversity. For views across the Costa del Sol, Monte Calamorro in the Sierra de Benalmádena offers panoramic vistas. The expansive Parque de la Paloma, with its lake, offers a different kind of green setting. These places each have their own character: the stream, mountain panoramas and parkland can be considered separately when planning your trip.

Getting There and Planning

Cercanías-Renfe line C1 serves the Benalmádena-Arroyo de la Miel and Torremuelle stations in Benalmádena.
