When looking for a hotel in Linares, it helps to first decide which of these aspects of the destination you want to shape your stay.

Hiking and Protected Landscapes

The Sendero Los Bellotos in the Reserva Nacional Los Bellotos del Melado is 4.5 kilometers long; the total hiking time is about two hours, and the difficulty level is moderate. The route from Linares follows a gravel and dirt road, through the Canal Melado Tunnel and via the Embalse Ancoa and RoblerĂa area. Check the current status and road conditions before setting out: in September 2026, the protected area was closed to the public.

The Reserva Nacional is located in the municipality of Colbún in Linares Province and protects a natural population of the endemic southern belloto (Beilschmiedia berteroana). In the wider destination of the Maule Region, it is one of five known places in Chile with small populations of this species. Water sports, recreation and nature observation are among the described uses of Laguna Amargo. The lagoon is also associated with outings and horseback riding.

Boat trips are offered at Embalse Bullileo, where recreational fishing is also possible. Sport fishing is possible at Embalse Digua; the reservoir is also suitable for hiking and recreation. Its shores may be used only to a limited extent because water levels fluctuate continuously. The bodies of water mentioned therefore differ in their listed activities and in how their shores can be used.

Museums, Architecture and History

The Museo de Arte y ArtesanĂa de Linares preserves five collections protected under Chilean heritage law, comprising more than 3,000 objects. They cover art, crafts, history and anthropology, archaeology, and numismatics. The museum promotes the visual arts and local and regional crafts.
