In Santa Rita Do Sapucaí, visitor experiences range from the history of President Delfim Moreira to religious sites, nature trails, coffee and innovation. To plan your stay, it helps to sort these offerings according to your interests and their respective requirements: some visits require an appointment in advance, access to nature trails should be checked, and dates are important for markets and events.

History and Religious Sites

The Museu Histórico Delfim Moreira is housed in the home where President Delfim Moreira lived and died. By Decree No. 5.457/2006 of October 10, 2006, the museum was protected as municipal heritage. The site thus connects a specific building with the history of a person also associated with another destination on the Rota da Fé: the Cemitério Municipal.

The Santuário de Santa Rita de Cássia is the main attraction on the Rota da Fé. The sanctuary houses an image of Saint Rita, brought from Portugal around the time the city was founded. A historical walk along the route leads to the Cemitério Municipal. Among those buried there are former President of the Republic Delfim Moreira, Luzia Rennó Moreira, known as Sinhá Moreira, and Maria Idalina de Jesus, known as Maria Bonita. The stops therefore bring together religious devotion and local memory, without requiring you to give equal attention to both themes.

The traditional Festa de Santa Rita is also part of the city’s religious calendar and takes place in May. If you’d like to plan your trip around it, check the program for your chosen event dates separately.

Nature Trails and Outdoor Activities

The Rota da Natureza includes trails in two named areas: the Reserva Biológica Prof. Dra. Mitzi Brandão (Rebio) and the Parque Municipal Natural Dr. Cyro de Luna Dias, also known as Horto. Check access to the trails in Rebio with the reserve administration, and access to the municipal nature park with the municipality’s environmental agency. This is especially important if a walk in either area is to be the main focus of your day.

Morro do Cruzeiro is a place to watch the sunset. The Rota da Natureza also includes boat trips on the Rio Sapucaí; availability depends on local providers and the conditions at the time. The cycling routes are different in scope: they connect neighboring cities, and route conditions and provider support may vary. The location of the Rampa de Voo Livre is also precisely specified: it is on Estrada da Rebio in the Bairro Piedade, on the border between Santa Rita Do Sapucaí and São Sebastião da Bela Vista.

Coffee, Markets and Innovation

The Rota do Café takes visitors to farms that produce highly rated specialty coffees and offer sensory experiences. What each farm offers may vary. Guided visits are by appointment; confirm the specific date again before your trip. This makes it possible to schedule this experience differently from a visit to the Mercado Municipal, where you can try pastel and take home artisanal linguiça, a local heritage product. Individual vendors may change.

The Rota dos Sabores also includes a visit to the producers’ market on Sunday. Since market hours can change, check the dates before you arrive. Distinguishing between a Sunday market visit and a farm tour by appointment can help you schedule your days around the experiences you want.

The Rota da Inovação is intended for governments, delegations and organizations. It offers a structured, customizable experience; visits must be coordinated in advance. The one-day route includes ETE FMC, described as Latin America’s first technical electronics school, founded in 1959. The route also includes Inatel, founded in 1965, and FAI, founded in 1971. This offers a distinct focus on institutional innovation alongside religious, culinary and scenic interests.

First decide which of these themes matter to you, then coordinate your travel dates accordingly.
