Santa Lucía in the Province of San Juan is a destination with sports facilities, wine and olive oil production, and historic sites. If you are looking for a hotel in Santa Lucía, you can match these different highlights to your own interests for your stay.

Sports facilities and events

The Centro de Educación Física N° 20 in the Departamento de Santa Lucía offers inclusive access to a wide range of physical, motor, recreational and health-oriented activities, as well as social, recreational, club-based and competitive sports. The center also hosts sporting events, from community competitions and meetings at the departmental level to events at the provincial, regional, national and international levels.

The center includes the Jesús «Ñandú» Morales athletics track. When it opened in November 2019, it was the first athletics track with a synthetic surface in San Juan. This means the site brings together a specifically named sports facility and a broad range of activities and events.

Club Amancay is located in the heart of the Departamento de Santa Lucía. Its facilities include golf courses, a swimming pool, hockey fields and other spaces for recreation and physical activity. Specifically named facilities include a nine-hole golf course and a pelota paleta court. The club and the center have different sporting profiles: the club is characterized by specific facilities for golf, swimming, hockey and pelota paleta, while the center is distinguished by its inclusive activities and its role as an event venue.

Olive oil and wine

Montefino offers visits to an olive oil mill in the Departamento de Santa Lucía, where extra virgin olive oil is made from fresh olives. Check the reservation details before your trip. Wine takes center stage at Bodega y Viñedos Argus: the boutique winery produces high-quality wines from grapes grown in its vineyards in the Valle de Tulum. It invites visitors to discover the small winery and its applied technology. The two places have different focuses: a visit to an olive oil mill at one, and an invitation to discover a winery at the other.

Puente Viejo and local history

Puente Viejo connects Alto de Sierra in the Departamento de Santa Lucía with the Departamento de San Martín. The bridge was purchased in London and inaugurated in 1893. A historical description from 2008 calls it the oldest bridge in the Province of San Juan and the last of the large iron railway bridges adapted for road traffic that was still in use in the province at the time. This historical context adds the story of the bridge’s origins to its geographical significance.

Squares and directions

A religious celebration is held every year in Plaza de Santa Lucía in honor of the region’s patron saint. The date and program may vary. Plaza San Martín in the main town has green spaces, a fountain and play areas for children; its facilities may change. The two squares therefore represent different aspects of the local area: an annual religious celebration and specific green and play areas.

La Legua is 2 kilometers from the main town. The locality is known for its extensive vineyards and its historical contribution to the development of the Departamento de Santa Lucía. Another point of reference is Estadio Centenario at Ruta Nacional 20 No. 2377 in the department. Along Ruta 0020, an access point at Monumento al Gaucho and an eastern access point are listed near Santa Lucía. These local and route details provide different reference points for Santa Lucía without specifying a particular route between them.
