Paraná: Museums, River and Parks
Accommodation in Paraná
Paraná offers a range of attractions for a stay: museums and historic buildings, parks and activities on the Río Paraná. When planning your trip, you can explore these highlights separately—through collections and city history, the riverfront landscape, or the activities available on the river.
Museums, Collections and City History
The Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Dr. Pedro E. Martínez has four temporary exhibition halls, five halls for its permanent collection and an auditorium. This layout distinguishes the two exhibition areas: alongside changing displays, there are dedicated rooms for the permanent collection. The auditorium complements these museum spaces.
The Museo Histórico de Entre Ríos “Martiniano Leguizamón” focuses on a different subject. It displays archaeological objects from Indigenous groups as well as exhibits from the period of the Spanish conquest. The museum also has a library and a reading room. A note dated August 13, 2026, states that the two contain more than 10,000 volumes. The newspaper and periodicals library holds more than 2,000 historical newspapers and magazines, adding historical press materials to the collections.
The Catedral Metropolitana Nuestra Señora del Rosario also offers a connection to the city’s history: construction began in 1883, and it was inaugurated in 1886. In 1942, the cathedral was declared a National Historic Monument. Plaza Alvear is known as “Plaza de los Museos” and “Plaza San Miguel” because it is surrounded by several museums.
Riverfront Parks and Nature in Paraná
Parque Urquiza covers 44 hectares and is divided into upper, middle and lower riverfront areas. This three-part layout describes the park’s structure along the riverbank. Parque José Gazzano is a nature reserve in the center of Paraná. It includes an artificial lagoon inhabited by ducks, geese and turtles, among other species. The two parks therefore offer different landscapes: a varied riverfront setting and a reserve with a lagoon.
Activities on the Río Paraná
On the Río Paraná in Paraná, you can take boat trips and visit islands, as well as sail, row and canoe. Other activities include wakeboarding, kitesurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, water skiing, fishing and photo safaris. The options range from boat trips and island visits to a variety of activities on the water.
The SUP PARANÁ school is located on Paraná’s waterfront promenade, at the end of Playa Municipal. It offers the opportunity to paddle on the Río Paraná with a board and paddle and to visit the islands. For a different perspective on the river and the city’s history, take a guided tour of the Túnel Subfluvial Museum. The tour covers the history, construction and operation of the road link between the provinces of Entre Ríos and Santa Fe. If you arrive in a private vehicle, the tour also includes an exclusive walk through the control room.
The Paraná Bus Turístico offers guided tours along the city’s emblematic streets and to its notable sites. When planning your trip, you can choose between themed museum visits, a guided tour around the city and the activities on the river described above.
