La Estafeta: Coast, Culture and Water Sports
Accommodation in La Estafeta
In La Estafeta, coastal landscapes, archaeological heritage and culture appeal to different kinds of travelers; Manantiales Club de Mar – UTF Arroyo Loberia lists a surf school and kayaking among its activities.
Coastal Cliffs and Archaeological Heritage
The cliff at Estafeta Chapadmalal Beach has significant paleontological value. The archaeological site of La Estafeta 1 (LE1; Mazzanti 1995–96) is located on a rise beside the sea cliffs in the area known as La Estafeta de Chapadmalal (Partido de General Pueyrredón). This brings together two distinct aspects: the paleontological significance of a beach cliff and a named archaeological site. Each gives the place its own character, though they describe different subjects.
Crafts and Culture at the Fair
A description published in February 2023 identified the triangular plaza at the intersection of Costanera and Yumbel, in the area of Playa Chapadmalal known as La Estafeta, as the Feria de Producciones Artesanales de Chapadmalal’s officially established and approved venue. Another description of the fair, also published in February 2023, highlighted how it brings together techniques and expertise from different craft fields, and described dance, theater, music and poetry as ways to promote access to culture. In this way, craft practices come together with several forms of artistic expression. If visiting the fair is important to your travel plans, check the latest event information in advance.
Surfing, Kayaking and Getting There

The Wider Area: Partido de General Pueyrredón
The wider destination of Partido de General Pueyrredón offers further nature and culture experiences. In the southern part of Partido de General Pueyrredón, Ruta 11 runs along the coast, passes through areas lined with groves and offers numerous panoramic views. At kilometer 34.5 of Ruta Provincial Interbalnearia 11, the Complejo Unidad Turística de Chapadmalal is located within the Partido and is designated a National Historic Monument.
The Reserva Natural Municipal Laguna de los Padres is also part of this wider destination. It protects and preserves flora, fauna and bodies of water, and is intended for recreational, sporting, cultural, scientific and educational uses. Laguna de los Padres is suitable for rowing on the Alberto Valle course and is considered an important area for sport fishing. Alongside coastal and cultural attractions, the wider area therefore also offers designated nature and leisure activities.
Another cultural attraction is the Museo Municipal José Hernández. It is located on Ruta 226 at kilometer 13.2, at the second entrance to Laguna de los Padres via Camino del Cabildo Indígena. The permanent exhibition covers early settlement, new population groups, the first Indigenous settlements and missions, the cacique Cangapol “El Bravo,” regional rural history and Estancia Laguna de los Padres. The museum is housed in the original main building of the former Estancia Laguna de los Padres, built in 1882. The Municipalidad de General Pueyrredon has designated the building as being of heritage interest.
