Camet brings together designated rural heritage, the artistic history of Juan Carlos Castagnino, and Estancia La Reserva.

Rural heritage in Estación Camet

At Estación Camet station, Almacén La Trinidad is designated as a rural heritage site. The station itself and valuable buildings on the railway grounds are also listed as rural heritage sites. In Barrio El Tejado, Casa de Campo Casco Viejo is designated as a building of heritage interest. Thus, several heritage sites on the railway grounds stand alongside one specifically named building in the neighborhood.

In 2011, EMTur put up tourist information signs in Pueblo Estación Camet. The places mentioned included the Casco Viejo of Estancia El Tejado and Juan Carlos Castagnino’s house-studio.

Juan Carlos Castagnino and his studio

Juan Carlos Castagnino stayed for several summers in the house, whose studio was on the first floor. He created many of his important works in this studio. For art lovers, this site connects the story of his repeated stays with a specific place of work; it adds an artistic perspective to the context of the designated buildings and heritage sites.

The rural landscape of Estancia La Reserva

Estancia La Reserva covers 355 hectares. Two rural homes are set within a park with a variety of trees and flowers. The grounds, buildings, and park vegetation offer a different perspective from the history of the railway and its buildings. The estancia’s tourist offerings included a guided visit to the dairy barn and the former dulce de leche and cheese factory. If you are interested in such a tour, check in advance whether it is currently available.
