Moimenta Da Beira: Hiking, Landscapes and Cultural Heritage
Accommodation in Moimenta Da Beira
Moimenta Da Beira brings together several distinct themes to consider when planning a trip: hiking routes with an archaeological connection, architectural heritage, river landscapes and culinary traditions. When looking for a hotel for your stay, you can first decide whether hiking, culture or a seasonal festival will shape your trip.
Hiking Routes and Megalithic History
The Rota Megalítica da Nave – PR2 is an easy 7.2-kilometre circular route. The start and finish are at the Estátua Menir da Nave 2; along the way, the route leads to a megalithic necropolis with menhirs and impressive tombs. The necropolis is associated with human presence around 6,000 years ago. A necropolis is a burial site: PR2 thus combines a specific hiking route with an archaeological theme.
The Caminho de S. Torcato – PR4 is fully marked according to FCMP standards. When comparing the two hiking routes, their features offer different points of reference: for PR2, the circular route, length and easy rating are helpful; for PR4, the complete markings provide guidance.

Architecture and Cultural Heritage
The Casa dos Guedes is a building from the second half of the 18th century, located at Terreiro das Freiras in Moimenta Da Beira. Its main façade features a coat of arms with a ducal crown and two portals flanked by pilasters. It also has curved balconies and windows with dynamically shaped pediments. Heraldic and decorative details thus come together on the same façade.
The Solar dos Correia Alves is classified as a Monument of Municipal Interest. In the Serra de Leomil, near Moimenta Da Beira, two wind turbines feature urban art works signed by Joana Vasconcelos and Vhils.
The Casa Museu Gente da Nave was founded in November 2000 and displays household items associated with the traditional way of life of the local population: iron pots, wooden clogs, a telephone exchange, a trousseau bag, straw mattresses and patchwork quilts. The telephone exchange complements the kitchen and textile objects with an aspect of everyday communication. Check visiting arrangements in advance.
