When planning a trip to Kłos, local history and routes that start here or pass through the village take centre stage. If you plan your stay around specific interests, historical background and route details offer different starting points. The two cycling routes can be distinguished by their length and character.

History of Kłos

Kłos was first mentioned in 1614. That same year, a manor farm was established here, known as Klusshof, “Stary Kłos” or “Wielki Kłos”. All three names refer to the same manor farm and together form part of the village’s history. It was founded with the consent of the Koszalin City Council and the municipality; the manor farm belonged to the city. Consent to its establishment and city ownership were two separate relationships. During the Seven Years’ War, Kłos and the manor farm were devastated; Kłos was resettled in 1764. This places the sequence of events in context, from the first mention and founding of the manor farm to its destruction during the war and the village’s resettlement.

Cycling routes with different highlights

The 23.7 km yellow “Trakt Rybogryfa” cycling route is designed for family cycling trips. It runs from Góra Chełmska via Kłos, Węgorzewo and Policko to Dzierżęcino. The route is described as straightforward and scenic, passing along Lake Policko and leading to an Indian village. Its length, purpose and waypoints give you several points of reference for assessing this route.

The 57.4 km blue “Śladami końskich podków” cycling route passes through Skwierzynka, Osieki, Rzepkowo, Iwięcino, Skibno, Kędzierzyn, Kłos, Maszkowo and Węgorzewo. It is described as a route with many natural attractions, historic buildings, monuments and equestrian centres. It is 33.7 km longer than the yellow route, making it more than twice as long. The highlights described also differ: the yellow route is designed for family cycling trips and passes Lake Policko and an Indian village, while the blue route is associated with nature, heritage and equestrian themes. You can take both route length and features into account when making your choice.

Pilgrimage route and directions

A pilgrimage route also starts in Kłos: the Sianów section of the Pomorskiego Szlaku Św. Jakuba runs from here via Sianów, Skibno, Skibienko, Sucha Koszalińska, Kleszcze, Osieki, Rzepkowo and Iwięcino to Bielkowo. The sequence of villages makes the course of this section clear and distinguishes it from the cycling routes. The starting point is particularly important for planning: Kłos is the beginning of this Sianów section, not merely another village along the way. If you are weighing up cycling and the pilgrimage route, their different types and courses offer a practical comparison.

On the “Trakt Rybogryfa” cycling route, cyclists turn right towards Sianów after 4.3 km. On the left, they pass a roadside cross in Kłos, as they do on the blue hiking route. This links the turn-off to a specific point in the village.
